GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Kirk Hammet Ouija Esp

Posted by: dcz702 Jun 9 2013, 01:23 PM

I ran into this add on Craigslist, a Japan made ESP Kirk hammet guitar is posted. I know there was somekinda lawsuit, and also designs changes with inlays and wrong spellings words that are supposed to tell you what issue it is,does anyone know the differences, and were the productions very limited for all ouija guitars?

Whoa, that's some in-depth info!!

It's nice to see some good knowledge being shared on the ESP board, the last time I visited a few years ago it was just filled with bickering teenagers, didn't make me feel particularly inclined to join their community.

As rare as it may be, my feeling for ESP guitars is that they don't have the brand heritage to make them increase in price to make them a worthwhile investment as a collector's piece. I.e., their fans aren't old rich dudes who've wanted one since they were 17... haha.

However, with ESP discontinuing most of the Standard Series as we know it, that may well change soon! I guess we'll have to wait and see...

Hey man! I was wondering what is the value on this I can't find anything on a Japan made neck through. And also, they were saying on the forum that the crescent inlay was changed to be Islam friendly tongue.gif this faces the right direction but fo states that Japan faces wrong, and Also it states that there should be 2 stars on the 24th fret. So this axe is different from what the forum states. I was thinking of offering up a American strat(I have 3) and I don't know if that is a fair trade? The forum also said that early first models have incorrect spelling this one is correct.

I'm not a big fan of Kirk or Metallica at all really, but I've wanted one of those guitars for as long as I can remember. I've got a black sweater with a white ouija board graphic on it too, so it would match perfectly. biggrin.gif Maybe one day...

WATCH OUT FOR FAKES!!!!!

This guitar is one of the most faked around. It's a really really rare bird. The real ones cost thousands. If it's a great price, make sure it's not a fake. You can google it and find lists of things to tell the difference. But even if it is fake it's still cool and worth paying about $300 for.
