Hi Anese, thank you! I hope you had a merry Christmas.

Your sample sounds good. I also think that the third version is the best one. Your playing is getting better! You just have to adjust the faster passages which are not sounding completely tight.

But this is on the right track!

Hello Gabriel
I started working on the lead part listen to the attached file and let me know what you think.
in some parts it sounds to me like you hit the G and B strings at once, but on tab it only shows one string note. i tried to mimic that but i'm not sure if i did the right thing or not.
Thanks

Hi Anese,

This is going on the right track. The double stop licks sound as you are playing them. You just need to be carefull with the unwanted noises when playing them.

Hello Gabriel
I'm greatful that I started to figure out some little secrets haha
Btw do recommend using a noise gate? I have that feature on guitar rig but I never set it
To the max level.
Thank you and I wish you all the best in the new year

It's better to avoid using noise gate for practicing. Use your hands to mute everything.

Hello Gabriel
Can you send me the short version of the backing track?
The one in the lesson section is too long and I need the fade out at the end
Thank you

Hi Anese, what do you mean by short version? Isn't the main video's backing available for downloads?

Hi Anese! This is a very good first take! You can play everything at tempo and most of the parts sound clean and clear.

You just need to give some more time to this to make the faster runs sound tighter and to give more "feeling" to you playing with the use of vibrato and a more consistent bending.

Keep on practicing and focus on details now.

Well done!

Hi mate,

this new take is very good! Your timing is much better now in the whole take. Your bending is precise and your vibrato is getting better and more connected with the groove.

There are two things that I think you should have in mind during the next days of work:

- Relax your hands and let your body go more with the groove. It's time to think a bit less about your playing and feel it. Move your head, tap with your foot, go with the groove.

- Tone Tweak: I think that your tone would sound warmer. The clean tone is not bad, it has some room to sound warmer, but the distorted tone is a bit "trebbly". You need to check if you can adjust EQ or maybe trying different amps to get a warmer sound.

Hello Gabriel
I'm glad that your efforts to monitor my playing started to make some progress
I feel like I'm starting to understand this instrument more and more .. no matter how much I play each small part .. it feels different to my ears every time I play it and never get bored with it ... finally I started to enjoy something in this life
rolleyes.gif ... this might sound a bit over exaggerate to you but that's how I truly feel.
Thanks a lot for your help.

I can not guarantee that my sense to grove could get better tomorrow or today.. your a fine musician and you know
this will take time.

for the tone part .. i had some doubt about that trepply sound but I just wanted to try that pedal on guitar rig.
however on this new take I went back to the same old pedal and tried to make the solo part a bit warmer and as close as i can get to the original lesson.

the main problem I usually encounter about tone,is that when I first grabbed the electrical guitar I knew nothing about
amps .. nothing at all .. and till this moment I still don't know anything .. if it wasn't for the presets i found on guitar rig
I'd be lost ..
however if you can recommend how to get started to learn about amps and pedals and how to tweak them ..that will help me to refine my tune in the future lessons.
maybe you know a good book or a someone who make beginner stuff about amps and tone in this forum or somewhere else.

I can't stay like this I must learn how to use those knobs..

however here's my new take .. I hope I'm ready to post it in the REC room and see what the others think ..

btw sorry for the long post ..

Thanks

Hi Anese, I'm glad to read this! Enjoying the journey is the most important thing. smile.gif

About getting better with amps, it's a matter of trial and error. I use plug ings as I would use the real thing so the more experience I had live and at the studio with my band, the better I've used plug ins. If you don't have real experience there are two things that I would try:

- Searching (google or youtube) for guitar set ups / rigs of guitarists that you like and replicate what they use and how they connect it.

- Using youtube which is full of tests and ideas regarding the use of amps, cabinets, mics and pedals.

Buckethead lesson is ready to receive some more feedback from the masters! However, besides the details that we have been working, I would tweak tuning on this one, I hear pitch issues in the distorted part.

Hello Gabriel
So do recommend to tune and record a new take or use the last take in the Rec room
Tnx

Yes! And be sure that your strings aren't old of your guitar needs to be set up.

Hello Gabriel
A new take is ready!! Let me know what you think
It seems that the G string needed to be adjusted from the intonation screw.
When you change new strings that are not the same brand of the old strings does that usually affect the tone screws set up?
Thanks for clarifying what I asked about tone teakage.
It seems that tone is a journey it self..

Hi mate, tuning is better now, but there is still some VERY little issue there that can be related to your guitar calibration or maybe extra pressure of your fingers. By the way, this take is ok for REC, it will be interesting to receive some more feedback.

Hello Gabriel
Last two months I wasn't able to renew my subscription on GMS so I figured I might find something to work on my self.
I simply just looked over youtube and tried to learn the Paranoid solo.
have look at my video and let me know what do you think, don't bother and go in details just tell me your
impression about it
also what do you suggest to work on next.
Thanks
