Hi GMC community!
My name is Brandon. I enjoy music and writing. (You can see that I like writing from this long introduction! Before I started playing guitar I used to write short stories all the time. I even audio recorded what I wrote with narration, music, and sound effects from computer games and various CDs of mine. I only shared it among my family and friends of course, and it really wasnt' anything special. Back then, all I could do was record everything live through a mic - I could not record the music, then my voice. I used Windows XP Sound Recorder. So if I messed up I had to start all over again with the recording segment. The stuff I wrote was mainly Sci-Fi, war, and fantasy....mixed together in some ways. Many of the stuff wasn't believable...as far as logic goes...but I enjoyed what I did. Prior to and during this big writing hobby, I was playing the piano. I started lessons when I was 8 years old. I took them for many years -taking a bit of theory and technic. As I got better over the years, I worked toward playing mainly hymns. I played piano regularly until I was about 17, and at the time of this writing it was about a year ago (a little more than a year - but not 2). It was on October 29, 2008 when I started guitar. It all started with the famous youtube video "Canon Rock" by "funtwo". This is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjA5faZF1A8 (This one has the millions of views). But if you want the HQ from Funtwo himself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TF6cnLnEARo Funtwo's Canon video became my obsession. I listened to the video all the time - even while doing homework! Weeks and weeks later, maybe months, I finally decided to start guitar. It was on a Wednesday night after church. While my parents were talking with some friends, I said to my dad that I was going home to learn some chords. (We live in the parsonage right by the church). I started with the E minor chord; moved on to the A chord, and then the D.............and that's how I started. I used a beginner DVD to teach myself. I've been teaching myself ever since. I used my brother's classical guitar. A couple of months later is when I purchased my first electric guitar in a jumpstart kit. For more information about me and my guitar hobby check out my youtube channel if you want. https://www.youtube.com/thefireball100 You can find my "Guitar Story" video there as well. I'm still struggling to find the right preset tone, so if you have any tips please let me know. I think I found a better way of recording. It sounds better recording my amp with a mic than directly through my pedal - but not as rich - but at least not so trebley. Although I'd like to be able to switch back to Line-in. So now I play guitar more than piano. I still use my piano skills that I've learned for various things, such as recording backing tracks. My style is hard rock/metal. I listen mainly to the Christian bands: Red, Skillet, and Thousand Foot Krutch. I listen to the contemporary stuff only when I'm in the mood for it. I like to rock the house! Fortunately I found some great rockers here on GMC! I'm very happy to be a part of this wonderful community! It's such a blessing! Technology is so awesome!!! Rock on rockers! --- Brandon (TheFireball100) |
