I've been saving for quite some time and have put away about 2000$ to spend on upgrading my setup. I have a 2008 fat strat HSS, and a behringer gmx 212.. besides for that I have a mediocre mic, and tuner/met. I have no pedals or ways of recording myself playing.. so I might drop a chunk on that.. any suggestions for the beginning bluesmans best bang per buck?
If it was my $2,000...(this is my opinion mind you!) I would pick up a new American Standard strat...and a Deluxe Reverb '65 Reissue tube amp! The ultimate blues combo!

the setup praetorian is realy nice for blues! A friend of mine uses it! For sure a great choice, but it depends on what you are looking for. 2000 $ is a nice budget for sure. If you are looking for gear to record yourself, check out this thread:

We discussed a lot about different ways of recording and getting a nice and versatile sound.
Anyway, you´ll make the right choice
go find yourself a used rack system...you can have many choices and tones at your disposal, and you can choose from many "hearts" for your sound such as mesa, marshal....you get the picture...thing about racks is that they are nice to record with, i think they (in a way) handle like a modeling amp...meaning that at first there will be a lot of knobs and features but in the end, it could prove to be easier to use.
you can hook em up to a nice cab, and you are ready for live or studio use!
if you are looking for a guitar, and you are a fender man...the american delux will do you well for years and years to come...you can change the pick ups to be versatile or 1 trick ponies, it up to you
since you have $2000, go into a guitar center and try everything out,
but dont forget that guitar center usually lacks a lot of brands to try from!
Hmm.. well now I'm stuck. I've made the decision to invest in just an amp.. to try and get the most quality as possible.
I've been looking at a few but I don't know if I want a fender combo or some sort of other half stack/head.
As of right now I'm leaning more towards the combo because if I have to tote it around it will be much easier for me to do by myself, and will take up less room in my small college apartment.
The http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Twin-Amp-100-Watt-All-Tube-Guitar-Amp-101462729-i1145377.gc looks like one of the better deals at guitar center. Also because it was stated above I've been looking at fenders 65' reisssues like http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Vintage-Reissue--65-Super-Reverb-Guitar-Combo-Amp-101256782-i1145405.gc which also seems to have good reviews. I plan on making a trip up to guitar center this weekend and testing out a bunch of gear. Decisions decisions..
Tough decision indeed if you ask me! Best is to try them out and do some AB tests. I'm sure one will pop out
Super weighs in at 65 pounds. NO THANK YOU
