This is the last one for a while.

Minority by Gigi Gryce chord solo.
1968 Ventura arch top (Japanese). The frets are practically non existent on this thing and I've got flatwound .012s on it.

Never heard this song until today. To be honest I liked more your arrangement than original song. You played this in a very enjoyable way and I really liked. The original song it's in that part of the jazz that doesn't resonate with me. I also listened the version made by Bill Evans but I still vote for yours wink.gif

Thanks all!

It is a huge sounding guitar. It's also 'huge' in size, though the neck is thin and relatively narrow.
The next chord melody will probably be a Christmas song. Haven't decided which one yet - ?

Should I recommend a traditional Romanian one? Here's my favorite - the vocals are simply haunting!

I had no idea that was a Romanian song.
We call it by it's general translation "Cradle of Jesus".
It's very pretty, it's on the 'list'.

No, I've never played it but it's one of the Christmas songs you'll hear in church out here around the holiday time.
*There is also a fair amount of Romanians living in L.A. One of my wife's best friends is Romanian. I may have even heard it at her place(?)

Everytime I see these videos it reminds me how pretty the guitar can be. I have learned a few chord phrases but never a full length version. Thanks!

Beautiful guitar and playing! smile.gif
I think playing chords + melody on top is probably one of the smoothest sounding things we can play on the guitar. Playing "two" guitar parts at the same time always sounds impressive.

Is the pickup switch position slightly weird? Usually it is on the upper side of the guitar body?

No, not really. It's a copy of an L5 which has the selector on the bottom. Gibson varied the position of the pkup selector switch a lot depending on the model. L5, ES5, Byrdland, Barney Kessel and super 400s have them on the bottom. ES 175 on the top. 335 - near the control plate. Johnny Smith - on the pick guard. They'd put them anywhere.

Interesting - what would be the most comfortable position for regular use?
Place where its easy to reach yet you don't hit it while playing. I like when the switch is on top, somehow its easier for me to hit changes on it while playing.

Good question.
That axe that I'm playing is huge so I don't hit the switch.
Personally, I prefer it near the volume and tone controls. Where it is on a 335 https://www.google.com/search?q=es+335&...ved=0CAkQ_AUoAg
