I think your playing was really good for just one take through. Technically you were on key and it sounded good to me. Their where times you found the pocket, so to speak and road it nice coming out to a finishing note. I really liked that.

If you want me to be honest though, which you did ask for it is the EQ and tone of everything. I listened to it 3 times and couldn't do it any more. Not because of your playing, but the tone. Everything (backing track, guitar, etc..) was clipping at times and was really bright sounding.

What do you use to record? Maybe try to warm it up some and it will be more enticing.

Your improv was really good so don't take this the wrong way. smile.gif

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

Yea I knew my sound was too bright but I forgot to lower it. I can make everything warmer and was goig to but I forgot. My setup is funny. I basically just use a Rock Band USB microphone (junk) right up to my amp, all I can afford right now (getting a Jem7V next week). Thanks for the compliments and chances are ill repost a warmer sounding one sometime soon.

Thats cool if you want to post another take. Looking forward to it smile.gif

Glad you didn't take things the wrong way. Hope you like your new axe.

Something to think about, you can pick up a Line 6 GX1 for around $80 US which has everything you need to get some great recording of you playing. Check one out if you get a chance.

Cheers

But, as UncleSKillet said, the sound is painful sad.gif

Dont you have a line-out or similar outputs from your amp you can plug into your soundcard instead?

Yes I do, about a week ago I just plugged two 1/4's from the line out to the microphone and it worked great, but then a day later it just got really scratchyand wouldnt work right. When it worked I would have to put my volume at full blast just to get a hearable signal, and the day it was scratchy the volume was the same as the amp normally, it was wierd. I think it was my cord so ill get a new one and try it out, but until then if I change my EQ the microphone should do some justice.
