Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Wow very cool to see your take Steve -

And I think you might have some kind of record in "posting REC soon after joining" biggrin.gif

This was very enjoyable and I can tell you are totally digging into the groove which is what we want to see, it makes us groove along as listeners well.

Towards the end there where fast runs where your hand were not in sync. You need to slow down these sections and practice them separately if your goal is to nail this perfectly.

As with most people who submit REC takes here, you should continue to work on your vibrato and mix. This has a major effect on the listener and can always get better.

Very well done on your first REC take, I hope to see more. You get a 7 from me!

Welcome to GMC and REC!! This is a great Lesson imho. Steve is one of the best players to ever pick up the instrument. He always knows exactly what to play and somehow never under plays or over plays, it's always just right. He's also had great tone for decades. He used to carry around 3 amps ( a marshal for rythm, soldano for lead and fender twin for clean) and then helped usher in the age of rack mount gear when he helped develop some of the first rack mount tube preamps with Mike Soldano. This eventually led to the huge rack craze that swept through during the eighties. Back to the REC!

Your playing is solid and I can tell you are having a fun time which is always good and helps the listener to enjoy the take. Your picking is solid and palm muting helps things stay clean which is crucial.

You are not rushing or lagging which is great to see and you have a very good sense of this solo overall. As was mentioned, there is a pinch of hand synch issue when you start to speed up but i"m sure we can fix that with a little time. To that end, shoot me a personal message if you like and I'll set you up a thread in the SHRED BOOTCAMP where we work on hand synch and precision at speed.

As for this one, solid 8!

Todd

Wellcome to REC! Congratulations on your first take smile.gif

Guido has a great lesson and the level is generally difficult even if it seems resonable easy. That is because of Guido's ability to make a wide palette of colors with his hands. It is not easy to transcribe to tabs and therefore not easye to copy exactl feel of his playing. There is a lot of additional observation of original take needed smile.gif

Besides playing there is one technical tip - you should try to capture both of your hands since many issues come from the right hand and we are not able to help you fix them if we don't see what's exactl happening with your hand.

Your take is pleasant. There are some tiny pitch issues and hand sync issues but not that much critical.

Probably most visible is your inconsistent vibrato. My tip would be to try to make it downwards most of time (besides E1 string). It's easier to control this way. Also try to make more a kind of rotation move from the wrist tha pushing all of the fingers.

Hi Steve!! You made me remember how much I like this lesson! smile.gif

I think that you have a great base here, and that you are very close to master this lesson. I feel that giving some more days to get more familiar with the licks and focus on details could make a difference.

The things that I think can improve are your bending pitches, vibrato feeling, and the overall groove feel that is not bad but I think that it tends to be a bit like "hurried".

If you give this more practice time (more days), you'll feel more familiar with licks and you'll be able to breath and feel more while playing the lesson. That's the only thing that I think this is lacking. It's an 8!!

Keep on rocking.
