That's very interesting. I've started using wireless in ear with my band, and John's words are totally reasonable. However, I think that having the vocals, at least a low volume reference is good for interpretation.

Isn't he basically saying "I wish the audience didn't have to listen to the singer"? smile.gif

hahaha ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Two things about this. I'm not a big fan of James live performances so I would enjoy that mix. haha tongue.gif

The second is that the problem that John explains is the main problem that our live sound engineer usually has: The unwanted noise captured by the lead vocal mic, mostly drum overheads. It's a big problem in medium / small places for intense rock and metal bands live.

I've been to 2 DT concerts, their sound setup and crew were simply top notch. If still John is so picky on what he hears, it made me think he must be a bit hard to work with smile.gif

I know what you mean smile.gif, but I think you might be surprised. I know Jordan. He's been kind enough to do Omnisphere demonstrations for us at a couple of NAMM shows. He's an extremely generous person and seems to me he would be easy to work with. I think that kind of attitude is generally shared by all members of a band.
