Hey! biggrin.gif

I am currently looking for a camera for some guitar recording, and I was wondering if anyone knows a good but inexpensive camera? Quality should be around the videos that the instructors post here at GMC smile.gif

Cheers & thanks in advance!

Tobias

Yeah wink.gif, naah laugh.gif. But I'd like something around that quality, and by that I mean I don't need a camera that has a 4320p/8k quality tongue.gif

Price range, not sure, can always save some money up wink.gif. Although I've been looking at a Panasonic HC-x800 that seems to have very good quality, maybe even too good, don't think I have the patience to wait 500 hours for my internet to upload a 30 sec video tongue.gif, but the price for that is around the 750 EUR smile.gif, I've also heard that Canon cameras should be good, hmpfh biggrin.gif

Hi man! I think a camcorder (handycam) would be the best choice in your case - just to start making videos.
Take a look at Sony CX series and Panasonic HC series.
Personally I like the Panasonic more, but I think it's more expensive.

Take care!

To start with you can always get an HD web cam from logitech and record directly to your computer. Then upgrade to an HD Handy Cam, the maybe later to a DSLR.

For about $100 you can a nice logitech web cam that will do full 1080p. It's still a web cam, but it does look spiff and you can record audio and video in to the computer all at once.

Once you start using handy cams, you need to either buy a capture device or transfer the files manually from the camera to computer, unless you use FIREWIRE which assumes the camera has firewire on it, which many don't.

DSLR is the last step and looks the best but is a bit harder to deal with as the transfer, like the handy cam, is file based and not real time like the web cam, and the files take a while to process. But it looks amazing smile.gif

Hmm, I'm not sure about the classic webcam,I mean maybe, but still didn't found some footage that meets the standards for HD picture. But if you wanna give 200 euros for quality - then make sure to check out reviews and YT links for THIS one wink.gif!

The go pro is a great little camera! But it's not a webcam as far as I know in that it doesn't do live streaming. It's basically a very small HD Handy Cam so you are looking shooting video then transferring, then syncing it up with your audio in post production. This is what many folks do all the time. It's just something to consider.

If you are ok with a little more complexity in your production/post production process then shooting non sync sound (shooting audio separate from video) is fine. But if none of this makes any sense to you as of yet, you may want to start with web cam to record directly in to a movie file on your computer and have the audio come in at the same time from a different source. If this too makes no sense, don't worry, all of this will be more clear as you go smile.gif

Yes GO PRO is NOT a webcam. It's a small HD Handy Cam designed for sports recording and such. But it's very hand and easy to mount, even on the head of a guitar. So a good choice, just not a web cam. So it has more of a Handy Cam / DSLR work flow.

Thanks for all the recommendations! smile.gif, I'll try and search each one of your recommendations on Google, and see what conclusion I'll get to smile.gif.

By the way, Todd. I currently have a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000, and it can record in 720p, but it just doesn't seem like the quality I want, maybe I should do some research on it or try and do something with the lightning.
But I know that I can record video & audio at the same time, so I don't have to synchronize the video & audio track, but then the problem occurs when I have to get the backing track in over at the same time, hmm.

And again thanks! smile.gif

I would recommend to go for a compact camcorder that can handle HD and records on SD cards. Its very convenient way to shoot good quality videos and transfer them to your computer for editing etc. I can recommend ones made by Sanyo for cool set of features and image quality.

People record with the backing all the time smile.gif There is an entire thread about it. Here is the link.

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=46040

The 9000 is a great place to start but needs a good bit of light. If you go up to the next model, you get 1080p and a little better sensor/chip. Check the logitech web site for some info. The spiff one is about $99 US.

http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-commu...pro-webcam-c920

Above that, you are looking at HD Handy Cam as mentioned. Many have FIREWIRE so you can do webcam functionality with the. It's what I use in Video Chat Lessons smile.gif A sony HD Handycam via FIREWIRE. But if your pc doesn't have Firewire, it won't help.

You can always record audio and video and sync later in post production if you use a handycam.
