Hey Matt...Can the phone apps that you developed for learning jazz chords and scales on your site be used on a normal PC or is there a PC version or other solution?

it's Locrian something or other! There's a fairly long history of naming chords like that 'modally' i.e., Locrian chord. I feel it's descriptive of it's overall 'tonality'. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

Yeah I think of certain chords that way for sure, like
x3x451 as a C Ionian chord since it has a maj3, p4 and maj7 in it. -------------------- |

I mean 'I guess' you could call Darius' chord a Gm13 but that doesn't really give any clue to it's color or timbral quality - let alone it's function.
Yeah I think of certain chords that way for sure, like x3x451 as a C Ionian chord since it has a maj3, p4 and maj7 in it. That's funny, I call that the 'Gamelan' chord. Derived from: 1 3 4 5 7 (5 4 3 1) It can function as a 'bitey' V7. This post has been edited by klasaine: Jul 4 2013, 06:39 PM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

Yeah, that's a cool sound. I use it on modal tunes based around Ionian to really make it sound different from a Lydian sound.
