That's Fernando Miyata. I like some of his stuff, but in my opinion his tone is really bad and he’s too flashy. He throws a lot of interesting ideas out there, but they don’t always gel, and I’d probably prefer it if he slowed down a tad and focused on better phrasing.
Listen to Garsed on Got The Horn as an example of what I mean. The man is a true fretboard master - total freedom type player. This post has been edited by InstruMental Case: Jun 4 2007, 06:49 PM |

Yes, I agree - some great raw material, a little more technique needed. Am I the only one that thought the camera angle was a little unfortunate? Wow, I'm LOVING Garsed - kind of like Eric Johnson with a little more attitude, amazing, gonna buy his album if he has one. EDIT : Just ordered "Big Sky" - has that track on it - Thanks InstruMental! Am I the only one that thought the camera angle was a little unfortunate? NO, that was one of my first thoughts. Very peculiar when he turned towards the camera and flashed what looked like a crack... -------------------- My bands homepage

Just ordered "Big Sky" - has that track on it - Thanks InstruMental! Big Sky is Brett's first true solo album. Previously he has released a bunch of albums with two-handed tapper T.J. Helmerich; most recently Uncle Moe's Space Ranch 2, which just came out. Brett is also on the new Planet X album with Holdsworth. He was on the classic guitar album Centrifugal Funk alongside Shawn Lane and Frank Gambale. Plus he's the guitarist for John Farnham. Oh, and he was also the guitarist on the Tapestry album by Mojo (Ric Fierabracci on bass and Kofi Baker, son of the legendary Ginger Baker on drums). The footage of Brothers and Got The Horn was taken from Brett's newest instructional DVD, Rock Guitar Improvisation. Great DVD - a must buy. Also check out Brett's first instructional VHS, Rock Fusion, if you can find it on eBay. This post has been edited by InstruMental Case: Jun 4 2007, 10:32 PM |
