AFAIK when I lived in the UK if you're in rental accommodation and there is either no land line or the landlord holds the contract then you will need to speak to them first if you want broadband via landline. Otherwise for mobile internet then you will need a 3G mobile with either a suitable payg or monthly contract.

Things may have changed in the last 4 years though and you may be able to get a landline ISP without the permission of whoever pays the phone bill. I doubt it though so just be careful as some unscrupulous sales reps in the UK will happily sell you a contract that you can't use.

I would highly recommend o2 broadband m8. Its cheap and an excellent service. E.g, when i had issues with my broadband, i was able to get through to a UK call centre within minutes of phoning and they were really helpfull. You also get a discount if you have an o2 mobile contract smile.gif

for me, its all about the customer service. And they get 10/10

I tried 5 providers since I came to London. The one I am using now is O2 and works great. I have 16mb speed with unlimited download for only £10 a month. That price is only available if you are O2 mobile phone customer on contract. Otherwise it's about £15 a month. The other option is USB mobile internet, looks like a memory stick. It is also available from O2 and you can use it like "pay as you go". Top up your credit and surf smile.gif That could be about £30 a month if you want to use it normaly, watch videos etc...
