Not sure if i fit beginner bands at the moment but i'd like to do session stuff for bands that need/want me to try and help some out if i can

Posted by: Andrew6 Mar 3 2009, 05:00 PM

I would like to sign up as well!

Posted by: andarr Mar 5 2009, 06:17 AM

I would really enjoy and benefit from being in a band! I play guitar in most styles (rock, blues, metal). I have a podxt for recording. Although I haven't been too active in the forum (this is my first post smile.gif ) being in a band has been something I've been wanting to do for awhile now so there is no doubt I would be active in this project.

Yes, I will inform by PM just in case you miss the announcement. smile.gif I did a video last time drawing the names, so we'll see what I can come up with this time.. laugh.gif

When is this starting up?

Posted by: skennington Mar 15 2009, 08:35 PM

Waited a little longer this time to see if we had more to sign up but looks like you guys are it. Any of you care to step up as band leader?

Posted by: steve25 Mar 15 2009, 11:38 PM

Perhaps a band vote/discussion?

Posted by: -Zion- Mar 17 2009, 03:08 PM

i might be able to give it a try.. could be fun..

Posted by: skennington Mar 17 2009, 07:04 PM

OK guys, we are officially closed for sign-ups. Since there is only 6 of you, would you all consider working on a project together? If so, I would like for you all to discuss amongst yourselves on who would have the leadership responsibilities. smile.gif

Once we have this in place, I will open up a thread for you to talk about the project. You are free to do what you like but I would suggest a cover to get things rolling. Have fun! cool.gif

Here are the guidelines to what goes on over here...

http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=9492&view=findpost&p=100831

You will need to be able to record the assigned parts. A good free sequencer can be found http://www.cockos.com/reaper/download.php

If you don't have a modeler of some sort, then you will need to mic your amp into your computer. Check out the collabs as this is pretty much the some concept. Feel free to ask all that you need. This is really a great way to improve! smile.gif

Posted by: skennington Mar 21 2009, 03:16 PM

I know there is a lot going on right now but are you guys ready to kick things off over here?

As Steve25 stated, I think the best pace to start is with a discussion between yourselves to figure out who will lead the band and do all the mixing/backing tracks. The sound will be much better if one person does it rather than all of you.

Once this is decided, then you can move on and figure out what your taste's are and what you want to do for a project.

Do I need to send pm's to the other's or are you guys watching... tongue.gif smile.gif

Posted by: steve25 Mar 23 2009, 01:24 PM

sken,

I'd love to do all the mixing/mastering for this band and of course recording guitars, drums and bass i can do but i don't have an awful lot of experience. However i do have the facilities to do it so i could learn. It's up to you guys though (in the band) if anyone else would rather do it then that's fine

Great! smile.gif The rest of you OK with Steve handling this responsibility?

Posted by: andarr Mar 25 2009, 12:09 AM

yea that would be perfect, as for what we should play I am leaning towards a bluesy or santana type song but im open for anything

Well this was one of the things i've been thinking about actually what style do we play? I think it would be helpful to find out what everyone wants to play

Posted by: Viking Panda Mar 27 2009, 04:37 AM

Well, I think it would be best if we do an original, although I will be willing to do a cover also.. I play metal, rock, acoustic jazz, finger style.

I agree i'd also like to do original stuff but as of yet we only really have 3 members

I'm pretty sure a couple posts back skennington said we had 6. Unless some people dropped out?

Yeah but they're not posting so i don't know whether they're actually in or not

Posted by: andarr Mar 30 2009, 09:34 PM

we could start without them and they could join in whenever we hear back from them, as far as playing styles, I'm open to anything cover or original

Posted by: steve25 Apr 1 2009, 04:40 PM

Could do it's up to you. We need to decide whether to do an original first or a cover

Posted by: Sergei Polusmiak Apr 7 2009, 07:21 PM

I thought i was a member. If it makes it more than 3

LOL has he? Well i don't mind if you guys are fine with that?
I think the very first thing that needs to be done is decide what style/styles we want to play and perhaps come up with a band name

laugh.gif You da man Steve! smile.gif

Posted by: Sergei Polusmiak Apr 10 2009, 06:01 PM

I would prefer to play heavier styles, Stuff like Children of bodom, Wintersun, And other finnish metal Bands though i will be fine with some older stuff like ozzy osbourne, and stuff like that.

I can play some different styles just dont ask me to play classical guitar, That will not work ohmy.gif

That sounds fine with me, anyone have any comments on that?

Posted by: andarr Apr 12 2009, 03:08 AM

sounds good to me, but I have never heard the music of those bands listed except ozzy osborne which i would enjoy, we could do a cover first that's probably the easiest way to get things going.

Posted by: steve25 Apr 18 2009, 07:52 PM

Ok well lets make sure we're all happy with th style we are going into to. Also what gear do you guys have?

Posted by: andarr Apr 18 2009, 10:59 PM

i have an ibanez rg and a pod xt

Cool sounds good i also have a PODxt so that's helpful smile.gif

Posted by: andarr Apr 20 2009, 10:45 AM

yea, well lets get started!! i would prefer an ozzy cover, but I'm fine with anything I just want to start jamming with you guys!

Posted by: skennington Apr 20 2009, 01:52 PM

Hey guys,

If I could ask, if you choose to do a cover tune, please don't post tab's. Link's to the tab's are fine but don't post them directly on GMC. The copyright thingy... smile.gif

Steve

Posted by: steve25 Apr 21 2009, 09:46 AM

I'm fine doing an ozzy or black sabbath cover what kind of songs did you have in mind? Personally i've only really heard Paranoid and Iron Man before (sent to me by some friends). But i really like both of those songs so if there's something else you have in mind i'll buy the track i'll probably like it anyway

sken: don't worry any tabs will be passed around via email, personally i probably won't need any but if anyone does i'll send them privately

Posted by: Sergei Polusmiak Apr 21 2009, 09:27 PM

oh and i am pretty advanced but please lets not do any songs with very fast sweep picking, im practicing that and its my worst. Maybe a bit later

I have an RR jackson, i dont really remember the model but its prime is metal, classic metal, and some rock if we go down that road. It can play blues but it is not quite the best guitar as that. i am saving up for recording equipment and i will get it soon, (pod)

and one more thing, who is singing if anyone is?

Posted by: Sergei Polusmiak Apr 21 2009, 11:07 PM

Oh i have a good idea for a song we could do a cover of
Treacherous gods by wintersun, its great,

could someone explain how we actually do the band thing?

Posted by: Sergei Polusmiak May 19 2009, 02:34 AM

Wow is the band not on anymore? no posts for a while

And I thought this group might put something together... sad.gif

Posted by: steve25 May 20 2009, 08:00 PM

Hey sorry, after Sergie's last post i was waiting for any other replies and as there weren't any i forgot. Still no matter we can still pick it up. As for that song as said i'm open to anything so if there are no objections to it then we can start that way. By the way if you've been collecting riffs or licks or anything that you think the band can use then by all means don't be shy to post them here (even if you think they're nothing great but could go somewhere eventually).

Posted by: Wylli Jul 15 2009, 02:31 PM

hi, dunno if is the right section, but i'm realy interested to join a VB. I'm interested to find fun and plls with who improve my skill.

Posted by: Sergei Polusmiak Jul 17 2009, 09:48 PM

Okay i'm confused. am i supposed to put something up and then the band members Put there tracks to it or what?

Posted by: Mrblomme Jul 19 2009, 02:20 AM

I also want to join a VB as Bassist.

Posted by: Jollygreengiant1 Jul 19 2009, 11:00 AM

id like to join, i consider myself as an intermediate guitarist, i can play bass also, willing to play any style

Posted by: steve25 Jul 23 2009, 01:39 PM

Ok great, the lineup we have so far then is:

Steve: Guitar, production
Sergei: Guitar
Jolly: Guitar
Mrblomme: Bass

That ok with everyone? Still need to make sure that everyone is happy with playing the song that Sergei suggested. By the way I don't think it's wintersun? Ensiferum?

Posted by: Mrblomme Jul 28 2009, 11:26 PM

The song is a little hard though ... tongue.gif

Anybody alive in this topic?

Posted by: Animal Sep 25 2009, 05:53 AM

I'm alive. Anyone else?

Posted by: Christophe Dec 1 2009, 10:47 PM

No one wants me in a very-totally-absolute-beginner band ? I'm very active but I don't have ANY experience by recording well myself or scales (can't bear that word biggrin.gif). I've an ESP LTD MH-401QM with an nonamed Amp and a nonamed DistoPedal. I hope some people are still alive on that topic biggrin.gif

Have fun.

NB : I almost forgot to say that I'd like to play mostly metal stuff.

Posted by: Christophe Dec 2 2009, 04:36 PM

Hmmm, PM me if someone might be interested in recruiting me...
