GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Progressive Metal Song Idea

Hi guys,

I've been working on this progressive metal song named "Medicine" for about a month now. I've done most of the composing in my head and with my guitar, but the drums and bass I have done with Guitar pro. It's not death metal or epic metal, more like in the style of Tool, which I consider to be somewhere in the middle of heavy rock and metal. So this means I have taken a lot of influence from Tool.

The song is now in the middle and I'm a little stuck. Before continuing the song much further I'd like to hear your opinions about this. Please remember that I'm just an amateur and not that good, but please be honest. I f you think it's no good, then say it. If you find something missing, please tell me.

Oh, and as you'll notice, this has taken a huge step away from the traditional 4/4 time signature, and has instead lots of odd grooves like 5/4 or 9/8.

I hope to make this a good song and then record it - and make even more songs.

in the beautiful world that it is.

man i wish i can write lyrcis like you...ive been having the hardest time with my song..

cool song though, i like the riffing on the verses,

keeps guitarists busy, but doesnt crowd the singer

Thanks! I've been busy with the instruments so I haven't been able to figure how should the vocals go - the track's empty. Any ideas appreciated!

Sounds cool to me. The influence of Tool is very clear. Nice job on the bass and drums as well!
