Interestingly, my 2002 with a rosewood board is my brightest of Strats (I have 4). The main things for the classic strat tone is vintage wound single coils and a relatively light body. Vintage style hardware too, though I'm slightly on the fence about this. If you maybe decide to put your own Strat together, Fender Robert Cray pickups are some of the glassiest I've found (including boutique sets) at a great price. They are also ever so slightly over wound. Lollar 'blonde' or 'black face' sets are also other great, classic 50s and 60s type sets (though expensive). A good Strat is a beautiful thing!
