Fender Princeton Reverb. Hard pressed to find anything better at a 'decent' price.

Hi-Watt (20 watt combo) http://www.hiwatt.co.uk/products/tube-seri...iwatt-t20-combo Reeves http://www.reevesamps.com/amplifiers/reeves-custom-12/ The videos tend to focus on these amp's gainier side but they can play clean at relatively high volume. Used or vintage: Music Man 110 or 112 RD. These are hybrid amps. Tubes for the power amp (6l6) and a SS pre-amp. *Great amps! Hi klasaine,
The 65 Princeton looks like a good one! Although this one is not a tube amp, it looks like a good candidate (DV Micro 50): http://www.dvmark.it/product_detail.php?id=87 but again, i'll probably will not be able to test it before buying it :-( Just heard the Music Man Rd112 Reissue and it's just great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZNMTWXo-eM This post has been edited by KenA: Nov 19 2016, 04:04 PM -------------------- ===KenA===

I wouldn't have been able to offer anything better so well said klassaine! The music man is a fine choice to be sure. The DVmark that is a transistor amp won't have quite the same kick imho, but is still a nice amp

The DV Mark gear has a great reputation but I have not tried any of their guitar amps yet. The bass amps are used by almost everybody now. Small, light, powerful with decent tone ... but expensive.
Another choice, though solid state is Quilter ... http://www.quilterlabs.com/index.php/produ...s/101-mini-head Small, powerful and light with pretty good tone and they stay CLEAN all the way up. But if your sold on the 'valve' thing, I'd say the Princeton (or even a Deluxe, 22 watts) is your best choice. Quilter looks good along with the DV.
Just found this one, Ethos Clean: http://www.customtonesinc.com/amps.html , it's analog circuitry, no tubes, but does sound good. -------------------- ===KenA===

@KenA
Check out the Peavey Piranah 20w tube micro head. Yeah I know it's a high gain micro head but the cleans sounds really cool as well. Pretty good for the price. Namm 2016: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhnrCE0Gk8g STENCH -------------------- HUMANITY IS TEMPORARY || STRUGGLE IS FOREVER |

The Ethos stuff is great. I like that they now have 'cleaner' versions.
Having said that, it really depends on what type of clean you want. As cool as the Ethos is, it's a darker and (IMO) flatter clean tone than the classic Fender clean sound (which I usually prefer). A Fender Twin, Deluxe or Princeton is pretty much ground zero for a clean tone reference. This post has been edited by klasaine: Nov 20 2016, 04:33 PM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

Agree klasaine, I too prefer the Fender cleans. I just wish they have the Princeton on head version. ( although I could use a head kit version and convert it ) In the 60s and 70s Fender made head versions of the Bassman (no reverb). Silverface and blackface. The Bassmans are 35 watt amps but are relatively inefficient, which means not too loud (compared to say a Vox AC of the same wattage). I don't know how readily available they are in Brasil but they did make a lot of them for export. Silverface bassman ... https://www.google.com/search?q=blackface+b...ce+bassman+head Blackface bassman ... https://www.google.com/search?q=blackface+b...ZmVAC4Q_AUICCgD *In 2000 (maybe '99) I spent 4 or 5 days in Curitiba. wow, good to know you were around here at that time ... still a good place to be, but just like let's say the good and old Sao Paulo, it's suffering from migration of people from many regions of the country ( there are good aspects and the bad ones also, like increase of criminality )
if I really search here, I'll may find a Princeton or Bassman head somewhere, but will be very pricey ... anyways I'm just keeping my eyes open and in case some good one appears... ** 1986, I've been to a few places in the great LA area: Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, etc ... I remember the nice girls all around, haha ... good times ... the 80ies ... odd hair style!!! Also, it's only clean at low volume. It's like a 1950s era Fender 'champ'. Sparkly clean at low volume and a lot of (beautiful) grind when turned up. Think Neil Young. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine
