GMC Forum _ Collaborations _ Crossfire Collaboration

Posted by: Ivan Milenkovic Aug 10 2009, 11:06 AM

Hello my friends, it's time for another collaboration, this is the first one I will put the second one very soon as well.

In this collab focus is on funk/blues, in the style of SRV. You may find the backing similar to the Crossfire song, except it has a standard 12 bar blues progression now, so the chords are different.

|E|E|E|E|
|A|A|E|E|
|B|A|E|E|
|G|A|G|A|

This is the main progression frame.
Tempo is 120bpm

Accent here will be a on a nice structured blues solo. You can use anything from E, E minor pentatonic, E dorian, E blues whatever, it only matters that you try make a nice story with your solo, because this is what I will be focusing the most in this collaboration.

As always I will put text comments as soon as I see your takes done, and if you want to do the takes again, I encourage you to do so, so we can experiment and compare several versions.

Wow, nice backing track! So I'm new to guitar and I've never written a solo or so :S But I'd really want to do sth for this collab! Should I give it a try, maybe read and listen to some blues solos and then experiment?

Ok I'm getting more and more into that bluesy stuff. I think a collab is a good way to discover the possibilities of playing blues. I want to give it a try though i'm not experienced in writing solo in general or writing a solo in the blues style smile.gif

Great! Glad to see you want to join in! smile.gif

@edguy

Don't worry man, just do it, we will discuss your take later, so we can see you can improve it. Nobody is going to bash you if it isn't done "properly", you have nothing to loose only to gain.
