As I am Canadian I must love hockey or else I'll be kicked out of the country....GO SENS GO!!!!
I also love baseball but sadly I'm an Orioles fan so disappointment has been a constant...however we did have Cal Ripken Jr and that trumps all! (honorable mention here as well is Nolan Ryan who could still probably kick Robin Ventura's butt today. if you like baseball you know what I mean)
But I am also a huge MMA fan. Randy Couture is a god....I miss him already but I also like GSP (again it's a Canadian thing) Can't wait for Dec 29. GSP and Hughes gonna be great. Also Silva and Liddel should be good. Silva winning of course

I think that GSP is awesome too. He's so incredibly athletic, definitely a talented fighter.
I thought that Mat Hughes and Mat Serra were the ones fighting in the upcoming Dec 29 fight

Yes, Hughes and Serra were the ones fighting, but I read the other day that Serra has a herniated disc in his back and had to pull out. St. Pierre stepped up and Hughes agreed to fight. For me, a much better match and St. Pierre can prove once again that Hughes can't beat him
Can't wait for Dec 29.
EDIT: This confirms what I read the other day actually.

Only College sports, Football and Basketball. At least they all are attending college. It has that redeeming element. And most of them will never make money out of sport, not even on the best teams.
I don't even know who won the championship in any of the pro sports in the past year. It is not easy to be this oblivious to media culture. It takes quit a bit of effort. I consider professional fighting barbaric, sub human. And this comes from a guy who keeps a loaded .357 magnum under his bed.

Perhaps Lawn Bowling is the sport for you Fkalich? Its a mind game. And the most important part about bowls is drinking beer while you play
I am sorry but it doesn't get any better.

Patriots, of course
Have to love the Evil Empire
All my childhood and teendom, I hated all kinds of televised sports. Soccer particularly (being from a Soccer country) would bring me to sleep in less than 5 minutes. That's just not for me. Didn't even watch the entire 90 minutes of Denmark winning the European championship back in the 90s.
But then, when I was around 18, I saw my first Super Bowl (XXX, in 1996) between Cowboys and Steelers, and I was sold. For the next 3 years, I had video tapes sent to me from friends in the US - that's how obsessed you could get when you hated all TV sports, and there were 0 Danish broadcasts of NFL.
During that first season, I decided on Patriots, mostly for them being the total underdog up to, and in, the play-offs, and being from the more European-minded east coast, I guess. Of course, they lost the Super Bowl. And went on losing for years after that.
In 1999, Danish TV suddenly realized something. This Dane (kicker Morten Andersen, of course), who'd (unknowingly to anyone in Denmark, pretty much) played in the NFL since 1982 went to the Superbowl with the Falcons, and suddenly they just had to broadcast that game. Turned out there were enough followers of the game to start broadcasting regularly.
And they have ever since, Morten doing his part to add more viewers each year - these days we get 4-5 games per week.
And of course, couple of years later, it started being bliss to be a Patriots fan. When Bledsoe got injured in 2001, I was one of those people thinking my team was doomed - for about 6 games
And I still hate every single other televised sport
And I'm surprised (well, not really) that I haven't seen a single soccer vs. gridiron (eventually turning into European vs. American intellect) debate on this forum yet

I hope I don't seem sad but I'm a huge fan of the classic English game of Cricket. In my opinion the greatest sport.

College sports are so much better than professional sports. Why? All the kids playing college sports aren't doing it for some $10million paycheck. They do it for the pride of their school. A lot of professionals don't care if they win or lose, as long as they get paid(at least that is how they act), but college... ooh goood stuff!

Thanks for the welcome back
but I'm more your friend from the north than across the pond....but speaking of ponds....if you think you can teach me, sharpen your skates and come up. Shinny hockey on the pond every Saturday man. I have no problem making men cry when it comes to hockey
But I'll buy ya a hot choclate after...to ease the pain
I catch a lot of flack for being a Sens fan but I don't care...I love my boys....even during this sad time of what 5 straight losses...we will bounce back
As for the Flyers...well....they are doing well so far this season but I've never been a big fan of the team to be honest. Except when Roenick was there. I've always liked him.
