Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Chris,

We are working on this one at the mentoring thread so I'm here just for grading and to receive more feedback from the other instructors regarding your take on this Malmsteen lesson.

Keep on the hard work!

Hey there!

As an overall impression, you did a great job. There is nothing serious to complain here. There are only two things that took my attention at the moment. Unfortunately the timing is not perfect. You tend to rush your picking comparing to the main beat. Try to be a little more relaxed - I guess this tminig thing is sort of "I don't want to be late" while the backing track itself is a kind of "lazy" and this way you become a get in front of the beat.

Second thing are sweeps. It's not yet a pure sweep motion. You take an advantage of low speed, adn actually use some of regular picking "jumping" motion, instead of just pushing the pick until it falls to another string.

Let's see what Ben will add smile.gif

Hi Chris this is very good.

Darius beat me to it, but he is correct about the following areas:

- Timing during the picking licks, especially around 0:40 onwards. You're just rushing a little bit.

- Lack of sweep picking technique. At the moment you're still treating each note as a separate pick stroke, but the pick should push through the strings in one continuous motion for the downstrokes and pull back through for the upstrokes.

Tone is great and so is your overall feel, including a strong vibrato. Well done!
