Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Tflava!

Great to find your take here! I've been following your progress and gave you feedback in video HERE at the mentoring thread.

This means that you already know my thoughts. This take is close to the previous one but the small details that I've marked in the video are now getting better. The trills were the most problematic ones and I think that here you are playing them better (but there is still some room to improve them, so I recommend you to keep doing the exercise that I've suggested in the vid).

Besides the trills, I think that there are a few parts that are rushed, some chords in the beginning and some phrases. This is very subtle but it's happening a bit.

Because of the trills and this timing issue, my grade is 8!

Congrats on your great job mate!

PS: Your work on dynamics and your tone are excellent!

Very nice! I love this lesson!

Your playing is good and though there are are some minor misses here and there - I still want to emphasise on the two major things that will take your playing to the next level. These are not really things that currently drag your grade down but rather the kind of things we tend to emphasise as students get notably better:

* Vibrato: You are playing over a very laid back backing with a nice dynamic and bright tone. This means every detail of your playing is exposed - and your vibrato will have the "final say" on how your playing is perceived. This is of course a topic of its own but we can see some usual suspects here: often times your start the vibrato too early and it conveys a somewhat shallow and irregular impression.

However, I can see you are working on involving your arm muscles in generating the vibrato movement which is a great start.

* Timing: Piotr plays everything but on the beat here. This can be tricky to emulate, but my impression is that he starts many phrases a little ahead of the beat which allows him to really "hit the brakes" at the end of the phrases and instead play a little behind the beat

Another "micro timing" tip is to listen for the accents, often times the loud notes will be on the beat whereas the softer ones work around the beat.

Keep up the great work - you get an 8 from me.

Hey Tim.

I guess you've extended your gear since last time we had some mentoring smile.gif so how many Fenders appeared ?wink.gif

At the beginning the chords shapes are fine but you are not 100% comfortable with it yet - every hesitation is audible and has affect on both timing and clarity of elements of each chord - for example: some higher notes in chords gets lost.

In the first lick I would play both bends more lazy. Be careful with the pitch - you tend to cross the line and it doesn't work well for this piece. In this sitation a batter tension build comes from unfinished bend, rather than overdone.

At 0:22 Piotr does very subtle release on pitch and vibration. You sounds a little too square, too rapid.

At 0:27 the legato slide is broken - final note does not appear.

Around 0:35 same situation as already mentioned - bends are made rapidly and nervously. The whole flavor should come from slow na lazy performance of these bends.

In general there's plenty of little flavors hidden in this lesson and it's way more harder than the tabs suggest, due to variety of articulation and dynamics. At the pro level I would say you got the draft but now the real work over this lesson should start...
