It looks like there is a new HD500x floor pod and they FINALLY STARTED USING PRO GRADE FOOT SWITCHES AGAIN!!!! That alone deserves some props IMHO smile.gif It looks cool, but looks are just looks as they say. Anyone had a look at this at NAMM or something?

I tried all of the Floor Pod series and all of them seemed to be a bit "FIZZY" IMHO, at high gain settings. I hope they have dialed that out as the box does look great and the specs sound great as well.

It seems to have some nice upgrades like better footswitches and increased dsp, but to me it lacks any killer features that would make anyone happy with their previous models want to upgrade. I just wish they would finally add IR loading to their products, for a company that was the leader of amp modelling technology for such a long time they are really falling behind everyone else.

It looks much more professional, but I think that based on what you say, it sounds the same than Pod HD500, so I would upgrade to this one.

From what I've seen and read, upgrading from the old HD500 will just give you better buttons. It still only allows a maximum of 8 effect blocks and it is the same list of amp models (since the update)

If I had the money I'd get one as a back up for my Axe Fx rig (it would be handy at them moment) it's the same price as my Ground Control Pro

Very awesome - I figured they would come out with something new soon as they haven't upgraded the units in quite some time. Looking forward to hearing what all this one does!

To be honest I'm not particularly impressed. All you get is more DSP capabilities (only benefits you if you're a heavy effects or dual amp path user) and backlit footswitches.

I'm a fan, wonder if I got some things around here to sell so I can pick one up, be much easier than trying to figure how to get my current one back together.

Thanks for the article man, I'll wait for the device that upgrades the HD500 technology...

Well Said!!! Why on earth they don't allow IR loading is just beyond me. It's a real gap in the features list IMHO. I was stoked to see they FINALLY started using pro grade switches again smile.gif

Thanks for the post/info!! It looks like it's mostly a beauty mod kit on top of the old PCB with new switches. I was hoping they would really up the stakes as a viable alternative for AXE EFFECTS/KEMPER by providing IR loading, and a new DSP core engine perhaps. No such luck. It does look great though smile.gif

Yea - I decided to put my Ibanez Mike Mushock Baritone Guitar on Craig's List hoping to make the money to purchase that.

Link to Guitar

Think they're worth $525? I put (2) Seymore Duncan's in it, so my cost when new was around $900.

Anyone need a great Baritone? Will trade for one of these new HD500s! huh.gif

Bet that Officially Killed Thread
