I have never used SD for any pickups, I've spent a few days looking around and this model has gotten some good reviews around the web for its versatility, which is why I want it mainly. Before I buy though, I was wondering if anyone would recommend any other pickups or if they have any experience with Seymour Duncans.

If you know any good 7 string pickups, share them as well. My price range is about $110 per pickup, I'm only really looking for a bridge one right now. Trying to get something good in versatility, tight and fat low end, Good for the low range of a 7, but one with enough clarity so a nice shimmer can be brought with the clean tones as well.

Haven't heard a lot of the JB 7 string before, but I would take a look at Bareknuckles (like the Painkiller, which I think I will buy for myself), Lundgren M7 (perhaps not so much for the cleans), and DiMarzios (maybye the Crunch Lab, D Activator, Blaze) smile.gif DiMarzio Evolution might be a good bet if you want a tight bridgepickup that can clean up real well smile.gif

I got a Duncan JB in one of my guitars, and I really like it, but I don't know how it would work with a seven string. EMG's work great with low tunings, they hold the sound together really well, maybe you should look into that.

Most of the seven strings I've played use EMGs. I've never been a fan of EMGs for 6 string guitars but the low tunings really sound great with them. If you want other options, I can recommend the Dimarzio Tone Zone, which I've seen a couple of times and also like the sound. The ones I have are EMG 81/7 and they are good enough for me.

JB is a great pup for 6 string, but not sure how it behaves for 7 string guitars and low tunings. I would check out some of the more famous 7 string pups out there.

Also, there are, as with any amount of strings, really big differences with what wood you put them in. If you want a clear low B, and especially if you are planning on downtuning, you should be careful smile.gif
