Sweep Picking - Need A Little Help

Dec 28 2007, 02:07 AM	Learning Roadie Posts: 783 Joined: 6-September 07 From: Newcastle	ok, ive just started to work on sweep picking using pavels "sweep picking basics" lesson. i can do the right hand movements fine and im currently practicing the left hand movement. i can play the left hand excersice at around 60bpm perfectly and im going to continue to work on that so i can play it faster. what im wondering is if it would be better to try and play the notes while trying to get faster or to just play the excersice and then start sweep picking properly later on when i can do the excersice faster and better? i think either way will work but i would like to hear other peoples opinions because i dont want to use my time inefficiently Thanks Chris You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick. Dec 28 2007, 02:10 AM	GMC:er Posts: 2.442 Joined: 11-June 07 From: Honduras	i really dont understand the method you're describing, but heres how i used to do it when i was starting, and its really simple: just practice it EXACTLY how it is, but very very very slowly. I know it probably stresses you out listening to those words but i think thats how everything's done. Sweepicking is something that takes alot of time so dont expect to start sweeping really fast+clean in 1 week, practice it alot and dedicate alot of time to it just follow what Pavel does but at a speed that wont make your hands shake. As Pavel mentioned the whole idea is to get both hands in sync. Count slowly as your doing it , when i start something like this I count out loud or in my mind to start with, 1,2,3,4,5,6 , 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc Everything is of course covered in the video but hopefully now things will be a little clearer for you.
