GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ New Guitar Amp..need Help

So I am wishing one for christmas (pretty sure to get one biggrin.gif but I need a little help choosing one. I need an amp with a good heavy sound (with a speaker) I really like the Marshall sound so if anyone could recommend one smile.gif?

You're being pretty vague....

How much do you have to spend? Do you want tube, hybrid, or solid state? Where country are you located in (my guess is USA)? How experienced of a player are you? What do you define as 'heavy sound[ing]'?

You can get the Marshall mate, it's more of a rockish than metalish amp, but it can serve for both, just expect it to be more suitable for rock. Marshall line is very wide, so if you can tell us how much money are we talking here, we can give you some specific suggestions.

In general you have 4 main price categories> each one has the better sound that the one before>

1. MG - solid state
2. AVT - hybrid
3. JCM, JVM - tube

Its not marshal but its got a great clean sound and loads of gain for heavy sound! smile.gif

If you're pro, get a tube amp, if you're not, buy a POD or a toneport if you own a computer.
If you don't have a comp, get a line6 amp or something. they're cheap and havea great sound for the cash.
