In my humbled opinion a timeless classic from the ObZen Album.
As with most of Meshuggah's lyrical content this piece is no exception, just poetry.
Many listeners tend to discard the motioned wording of Meshuggah's lead vocal oppressor Jens Kidman because they may find the delivery too harsh to comprehend or understand. I think that "confusion" is where the true art really comes to the fore. For example when you listened to any track as a "strapping young lad" (pun intended) say three or four times, you start to build in your imagination "what the song is about"?,"how it makes you feel"? in this case "what the vocalist is saying"?. If you are not sure of the words in the exampled song you make them up just to sing / growl along. This used to happen with me a hell of a lot, until a friend would say "that's not the words to the song"!.
That's when I started reading lyric sheets, and I can safely day not many read like Meshuggah's lyrics.
On the probable opposing ends of the musical spectrum check out some of the lyrics from Mark Kozelek on the Sun Kil Moon Album.
He is such a great story teller.
