=== Fear Of The Wolf ===

Inconquerable fear
We burn inside our decieved senses
We slew our own brotheren
For the voices whispering in our minds

We breathed life to the wolf
Said to be prowling in our gardens
The voices reminded us
Of its sudden reality

And so we unlocked the path of liberty
With the key the voices gifted us
Our freedom ran as wild
As our imaginations

We were forced to leave our comfort
Delving into the neverending forest
We listened on petrified
As a fearful howling ensued

Our paced quickened,
Like our nervous heartbeats
We ran like an autumn wind
Brisk, panicked
Rushing our lifespan
Until the year drew to a close

Yet we struggled on for the light ahead
It's white absolution
Tasting our weakened flesh
We believed we had found our peace
A little taste of heaven

And so the darkness enslaved us
An invisible fear savaging us
Light dissolving into nothing
The voices laughed inside our heads
Capitalising off our foolishness
Our belief of the fifth column
Our fear of the wolf

We are all slaves now
Working day in and out
Trapped in a mine of self pity
Harvesting our own sorrow
The voices never stopped laughing
A hidous cackle reminding us
Of how we had and lost everything

Our lives... fade to darkness

Criticise as appropriate, see if anyone can guess as to the relation of the overall metaphor of the piece to real life. biggrin.gif

Love this. It is good poetry or a short story and works great as a song. I love lyrics done in this style and one of our songs called Depressive Minds flows as a story. Good use of language and some well thought out passages of words. I'm a big fan of lyrics and it's why all our songs and even our metal songs have to be audible. If the singer screams I want to be able to pick out the words. This is a great lyrical piece.

Thank you, I also think its important that lyrics be there for something to relate to, otherwise vocals just become another instrument and you lose the dimension of having something interesting to say and for people to absorb.

I especially like tales or lyrics with relevance to something, so that there is an actual emotion or driving force behind what is being said, as much as I am a fan of fantasy fiction I like to keep lyrics grounded in some form of reality, no matter how metaphorical they become. smile.gif

Let''s see what I think biggrin.gif

=== Fear Of The Wolf ===

Inconquerable fear
We burn inside our decieved senses
We slew our own brotheren
For the voices whispering in our minds

(Love the way you use your words, great adjectives, I'm particulary fond of the third verse)

We breathed life to the wolf
Said to be prowling in our gardens
The voices reminded us
Of its sudden reality

(Like you said, it doesn't need to be force when it can be so much better when done naturally, at this momment, I feel like your talking about hipocrisy or past problems, but that's just my interpretation tongue.gif)

And so we unlocked the path of liberty
With the key the voices gifted us
Our freedom ran as wild
As our imaginations

(Now, I would analyse this verse as for freedom of expression, so I'm beggining to combine this poetry in a whole speach about freedom for men, using a wolf as a comparation to his own)

We were forced to leave our comfort
Delving into the neverending forest
We listened on petrified
As a fearful howling ensued

(This one is tricky, seems to deep for me to understand, which is a good thing since, the more deep, the more meaning it has...Only Idea I can extract is when we fail to be free)

Our paced quickened,
Like our nervous heartbeats
We ran like an autumn wind
Brisk, panicked
Rushing our lifespan
Until the year drew to a close

Yet we struggled on for the light ahead
It's white absolution
Tasting our weakened flesh
We believed we had found our peace
A little taste of heaven

And so the darkness enslaved us
An invisible fear savaging us
Light dissolving into nothing
The voices laughed inside our heads
Capitalising off our foolishness
Our belief of the fifth column
Our fear of the wolf

We are all slaves now
Working day in and out
Trapped in a mine of self pity
Harvesting our own sorrow
The voices never stopped laughing
A hidous cackle reminding us
Of how we had and lost everything

(In conclusion, we live a routine of our daily lives that keeps getting worst)

Our lives... fade to darkness

You have a beautiful sense of track, making it almost a story...Since I never cared to much about the right words to use, can't possible do on something that wasn't made by me. I hope that your band's music is as good as your writting smile.gif

P.S: Hope you liked my interpretation xD

Cheers

Thanks, smile.gif

I think this is a good example of how lyrics can mean different things to different people. smile.gif

I initially wrote this as a piece about manipulation in society, politicians are always whispering fears into our ears, planting words in our mind - they are the voices, I see these fears as just an illusion, the illusion here is the wolf, the "enemy" in our own back gardens, how it never actually poses a threat in itself, yet we are scared and we run, in running we unlock the key to our freedoms or our liberties, thus the line:

"Our freedom ran as wild
As our imaginations"

We run towards what we think is peace and prosperity - the white light of absolution, but we are eventually tricked, trapped and manipulated into doing what someone else wishes us too, this is the story, but it also serves its double purpose as metaphor of what I see happening in the world today.

Hope I explained what I meant to convey well smile.gif

Hehe, I just read quite a lot and take notes on what I see and hear every day, eventually the notes culminate into some lyrics that I either continue with or drop because they're not up to scratch, its like playing guitar (for me anyway), the more techniques, styles and ideas you know the more complex you can make your music but you have to write your riffs and seperate the good from the bad and then eventually make a song.

I'm no master of English by any means, I just enjoy doing this sort of stuff biggrin.gif
