GMC Forum _ Introduce Yourself ! _ Hi From Tokyo!

Posted by: I am Loki Apr 24 2008, 01:42 PM

Hi all!

My name is Lochlainn, but please call me Loki.

I have been lurking on this site for a while and have decided to get serious about Guitaring. I am from Australia, but am currently living in Tokyo (Japan). Im sure many of you know that Japan has an awesome guitar scene. One of my many goals in this country is to learn the guitar. This site will be one of my secret weapons haha. Skill level and knowledge wise I am a beginner. But I do fully intend to change that here wink.gif So far I have been awestruck by the quality and diversity of lessons on this site.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Wow! Gabriel, Muris and Jerry! I have been watching you're lessons, you guys are awesome. Its an honor to have you guys greet me ^_^ You guys are like my idols haha!

Thanks Superize, Smells, Spreedmaster and MikeM for the warm welcome everyone so far ^_^

To Spreedmaster:

I am actually a student at the moment, I am here on exchange for 1 year. But getting a job is not too hard depending on you're field. English teaching is always in high demand and perhaps a good foot in the door to japan. I LOVE it here. It is a really eye opening place. I know what its like counting the days!

I did not know what I was doing (as usual) when I got a guitar here. I wound up with an Aoi Schecter S-1 Elite. I guess I was in a hurry to start playing, but I fell in love with that guitars tone. It blew away ones twice as expensive as it (even the other schecters). The moment I heard it tune up I fell in love with it. So I dont regret it so much.

Id be glad to look into some of those ESP guitars for you. I have heard lots about them but never found any. I am in Tokyo tho so thats a pretty poor effort on my part I think.

Lets talk more later. I am sure you will love japan too when you get here! ^_^

Hi Juan and Vinod!!!

I love you're tapping style lessons Juan!, they are very interesting. And I'm currently learning Asturias!
I hope to improve lots here! I just love this community already haha. Im sure only good can come of this smile.gif

Loki,

Posted by: Spreedmaster Apr 24 2008, 02:21 PM

I bet I will! I was looking into teaching English there, or to get a ob in a lab or something, anything to finance some Japanese crafted greatness!

Posted by: I am Loki Apr 24 2008, 02:23 PM

Hey Juan and Vinod!!

I love you're tapping style lessons Juan!! they are really something else!

And I am currently learning Asturias from you Vinod. I have an interest in many styles of guitar ranging from acoustic melodic/atmospheric peices to screaming high intensity solos (So long as they are melodic in some way, random fast notes don't appeal to me much haha). Asturias plays really well on the electric. You guys do awesome stuff here!

Loki,

You are welcome! And thankyou! I have always tried to never restrict myself to any single genre of music. I really respect the classical style and hope to adapt it to the electric. I also notice you are running a topic on sight reading. I might check that out too. I have always wanted to be able to read music.

I guess for those who are interested, my tastes in music are somewhat eccentric at times.
I have been known to like Rock, Punk, Heavy Metal, Classical, Japanese Anime Music (Check out Akatsuki no Kuruma by Fictionjunction Yuuka <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CelYrLIoDGY> and Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni by Shimamiya Eiko <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XF23HOWkCRQ> before shooting me).

I listen to lots of japanese music at the moment and am searching for the gems, so forgive me if my knowledge of other music is suffering as a result. Its good study anyway tongue.gif

Wow, That sounds good. Id love to hear them! Do you have them uploaded anywhere? I like Japanese traditional music too!
I really like the Shakuhachi too... Id love to learn it too one day. Which gives one an idea... hmmm

Anyway, I have homework to do now... so I must leave. I'm practicing string bending too at the moment and my index finger is taking a pounding.

Have a good night!! Hope to talk with you more soon!

And Hi Joe!
