ok, so this is how the situation is:

im a boy at the age of 15. My goals with the guitar is to reach to stars.
I've been playing for around 7 months and i think i've been improving quite well. The only bad thing is that i dont find any time with the guitar.

I go by bus to school, 2 hours a day. I have to go up early, 5:50 every morning, and go to bed early, 21:00.
I get home around 15:30 and start to play guitar. I want to play aproxomately 8 hours a day, but my schedule only fit 3-4 hours in per day. I've seen Guitar players like yngwie malmsteen who sais he plays around 10 hours day, daron (system of the down) who sais that he play 8 hours. Where do they find the time to do that???

How can i improve the rest of the time when im not playing guitar, remember, i sit 2 hours a day doing nothing in a bus, is there is a trick that i can do during that time?

Don't pay a lot of attention on the fact how many hours per day some players have been practicing.
Imho 3 hours par day is awesome duration if you manage to have it in constant,
with constructive topics covered while you're practicing.

So,chin up,leave keyboard for a sec and grab your axe! smile.gif

That depends of many factors but mostly of you,
be smart when practicing,do not make huge mistakes in some techniques etc.
However I'm sure there will be days when
you'll be able to have more than just 3 hours free. smile.gif

Three hours will definitely make you a great guitar player smile.gif Martin, you're young. I think if you practice three hours a day until you're old enough to have your own place, set your own schedule, etc, you'll be shredding no question. It's all about using your time wisely. And then when you do get more time to practice, if you're not completely satisfied with your ability then you'll have all the time you want to improve it.

It's never really a question of how much time you spend, but more how well you spend your time. If you spend an hour going through a tight practice schedule, you'll come out much better off than going through 3 hours of just noodling and not doing anything special.

I agree, smart practice is the best way to lift your technique on the higher level....
for example, practicing scales very slow.for an hour could be more effective then 3 hours of just jamming...of course in the long run....smile.gif

Being very organised about practicing will help you improve a lot. If you keep a journal that you fill in every time you practice, then you can revert to it to work on the things you were struggling with, and also track your improvement after time. Also, record yourself and listen to yourself play.

Say you've got two hours to dedicate to practicing per day, you could do something like this:

15 minutes - Warming up (finger exercises, stretches, etc.)
30 minutes - Song practice (jam your favourite songs, improvise over them, etc.)
30 minutes - Scale practice (practive the various pentatonic and diatonic modes, learn different positions, etc.)
30 minutes - Going over the stuff you were working on last time, practicing the things you found difficult and returning to the things you could do, just to keep it going.
15 minutes - Filling in journal, perhaps record an improvisation or two.

You'll find that sticking to a tight schedule like that will do so much more for your playing than you saying "Right, it's 3pm, I'm going to practice until 4pm", and simply noodle over your favourite licks and jam your favourite tracks. Don't be afraid of getting a pad and paper and being organised about your playing.

You could also play air guitar in the bus biggrin.gif . I guess better thing is, thinking how it feels and looks and of course sounds like to play that nasty lick in full speed, which you couldn't do well enough at the end of your last session... stuff like that.
hopefully you get what I mean..

p.s. This information is based on some stuff at the forums here, if I got it wrong myself, someone please correct me.. It does work for me.

EDIT: some minor corrections

ok, so this is how the situation is:

I'm a boy at 27. I don't either find enough time with the guitar...
I go by bus to work, 2 hours a day. I wake up at 5:40 every morning and I play guitar about 2 - 3 hours guitar (or other instruments if I record a song) a day...

I can't even comprehend to play 8 hours a day, I find that quite impossible.. If you ever find the time for that, I envy you biggrin.gif
The most important thing is to play every day and practice the things you're not as good at smile.gif

Good luck, I really want you to upload something when you've recorded something smile.gif

thx audiopaal.

I have a small question about shredneck, can you improve your AP with it? And, how is it in general?

No I don't think shredneck is made for right hand technique. I it did, I'm not sure where you could pick on a such a small fretboard unsure.gif

Also regarding your topic, it is never really too late, and 3 hours is plenty if you are practicing all the time in those 3 hours, use a metronome and focus on what you do. The results will come in time that's all.
