GMC Forum _ Gabriel Leopardi _ Post Rock Lesson

Posted by: Ken Slocum Jan 8 2016, 05:39 PM

Gab, I am working on the Post Rock lesson. Can you tell me what is the best way to approach this lesson. Since there is more then one guitar part, I am not sure which part to approach first. I ask this question because I am trying to record myself. Should I play the backing track and record one guitar first and then do a playback and record the other one, etc..? I am a little lost because the backing track is throwing me off. I love this tune and it is struck in my head. Any suggestions on the best way to approach how to record this would be great. Thank you.

You're right. You have to record the upper right guitar first, then over it record the one that is played in the middle and finally a third take with the guitar that appears in the upper left. This style of music is built with layers so it's part of the exercise.
