Boys.. I will try to do that lesson!

But for that it is necessary to have the basic knowledge of singing ...

You have to study all the others lessons too! That's the only way.. ok? biggrin.gif

I'm not sure. Can you talk while playing? If so you might just have to learn the lyrics until it is second nature. I'd start a new topic on that and see if you can get some help.

My drummer - who's been very active on the scene before starting with us... mellow.gif - told me vocalists use octavizers, I think he was refering to growling but honestly I didn't listen that closely since he's a drummer laugh.gif

So growling has some sort of connection to singing? I've always wondered.

*ducks as the growling posse starts... growling and throw stuff around* laugh.gif

of course growling has connections to singing, Growling is a form of singing, even though some people will completely deny it.

I think she meant that by learning the basics of singing, liek controling your voice, recognzing notes, even stuff like proper breathing techniques will help you if you wanted to learn how to growl.

Its like guitar, i learned the basics of Jazz, Blues, and classical guitar, and even though i mainly play metal, knowing how other style function and work will help me, i THINK thats along the lines of what she is saying...

....Or i could be completly wrong.

I know the subject is very sensitive to joke about though... unsure.gif

But that was what it was, a joke man laugh.gif

^ I didnt take it offensively or anything, i just thought you might be one of those people who think growling is some oversimplistic form of something thats not singing.

I joke about it all the time, growling is not that sensitive a subject for me when someone hates it or something, cause used to think it was horrible, so i know what there thinking.

The only thing that really offends me is when people say something is not singing or has no talent or is not music just becuase it doesnt appeal to them, and i didint think thats what you were syaing, just for the record smile.gif

And i thought you were asking what she meant by learning the basics of singing, so i put in what i thought she meant.

i'm okay at the whole growling thing- i think the hardest part for me was producing that initial growl. i'll steal my little brothers headset (for lack of a better mic) and try and get a (very amateur) lesson up somewhere on the forum within 24 hours (if luciana is busy with other lessons at the moment <<< cough- vibrato cough >>>) tongue.gif

I have heard that it all comes from the diaphragm not the thought which seems logical but when I go from there I don't get anything. I also heard that coming from the through with mess up your voice something fierce.

im startin to get amazed at how little people know of screamin. everyone i kno who plays guita knos about screamin and kno a few people who can. different people are capable of different scream and everyones sounds different. I learnt the exercises on the zen guide and then tried to scream along to my favourite screamers ( lamb of god , in flames) until i could do it, it took less than a month, and i wil admit that the zen guide does hav alot of irirtatin self advertisin in it but it is the best way to learn if u dnt kno anyone who can teach u. nw that ive finished rantin feel free to shoot me down

I always pushed up from my diaphragm to give the power and resonance. For deeper stuff I really opened up my throat and just let the sound come through, for more screamy type stuff I would control that by closing my throat a little tighter.

You can hear how that turned out from the link in my sig.
