Hello muris, first i would like to say they i love your playing, and you tought me those triplets runs it's really cool, now i love to use triplets when i shred smile.gif
recently, i wrote a new solo for one of my songs, it got some passages with shred .. anyway, when i do one of my shred, i do it with sixteenth triplets at 120 bpm, i can do it really clean if i play it on the begining of the neck (because frets are big) but it my song i got to play it really down the neck (it's a descending scale that start on the 15th fret on the low e string and end up on the 22nd fret on the high e string) so when i play it, it's not really clean, i was questioning my self, should i use the pinky when i do those runs, or should i do it only with 3 fingers (wish i'm not use too :s)
i'm trying to practice it slower, i was just wondering wich technique should i use (with pinky or without)
thanks muris

Hi Jad and thanks for your kind words, appreciate it!! smile.gif

Hmm,pinky biggrin.gif

OK,as you can see I do use pinky a lot, even on smaller/higher frets.
I've always looked at pinky as a regular finger and not disadvantage one.
Maybe it has something to do with my early practicing routine,
I used to play a lot of legato stuff 3nps etc, could be...

So if you ask me I would say yes,use your pinky as often as possible,
it's not necessary to use it all the time by all means tho, just fit it to yourself.

You've probably seen a "lesson" Marcus Lavendell and I did,
playing each other lesson.
There's a part when I played just like Marcus, without pinky even it was 3nps pattern.
Usually I would do it WITH pinky but since I was playing Marcus' lesson,I did it that way.
So it's good to have your pinky in shape just like other fingers,
than it's easy to decide when to use it or not.

Hope this helps a bit. smile.gif

Thanks for the advice,
actually i spent some time doing it with pinky and without it, slowly, i think my problem was the 'muscle memory' thing, but i agree with you, i often use the pinky too, but this time i did'nt use it, i was sad for him tongue.gif
thanks again
