Chris, you looking for customs for that Jackson. Check this guy out. http://www.kentarmstrong.com/ Used to make the p/ups for jackson back in the 80's. Got hold of one of these pickups and put it in the bridge position of my Jackson, the tone is great, much smoother tone than the stock "Duncan Designed" pickup, highly recommend giving these a try if your looking for replacements. this particular pickup is the Distortion Humbucker, terrific price new around $40, was lucky enough to find a brand new one on ebay for a snip of that!, very pleased, cheers for the heads up Steve -------------------- |

Guys found this site for pickups great prices and got some great reviews can customize them quite alot ClickSwineshead Pickups Thanks for the heads-up:) I have been thinking about getting some bareknucklepickups for the Carvin Bolt+ kit I built cos the stock ones lack balls, but these are a fraction of the price and seem to have similar qualities, and the real wood covers look pretty cool and will go well with the natural wood finish of my axe. From the clips they seem to be what I am looking for, probably gunna go for the XBucker set......hmmm, now, what pups to put in the current guitar project I am building..... |

yes please, some feedback on them would be great Well, my new Xbuckers arrived today (well actually last wk but I have only just got round to cycling to the post office to pick them up). I originally tried to order them with each coil half cream and half black (see link) but it turns out that they don't do this option any more, something to do with inferior quality of plastic required. So anyways I ended up with 1 coil cream and 1 black on each pup. http://www.swinesheadpickups.co.uk/installation.shtml Then I encountered the first problem (which I anyways pretty much anticipated). My Carvin Bolt+ has 2 humbuckers mounted direct to wood with 3 wood screws (2 on 1 side and 1 on the other) with springs to suspend the pup at the top (pushing it up against the screwhead). The Xbuckers come with a single hole in the center of the mounting legs and are designed to be mounted in pickup rings with a single machine thread screw on each side for adjustment with spring in between. There are ways around this but I kinda wanted some chrome pup rings so I decided to wait and ordered them from Thomann today. While I was at it I also decided to change the wiring schematic a bit and ordered a couple of push-pull 500kohm pots in order to wire them up according to link below, tho without the tone controls, just 2 volumes with coil split and a 3-way http://www.swinesheadpickups.co.uk/2hbpp.shtml 2nd problem I encountered is that the Xbuckers have a plastic base at the bottom (3-4mm) which makes them a bit thicker than the Carvin pups which have a thin steel plate, and the wire that exits the Xbuckers is thicker than on the Carvins. This combination means that I will need to drill out a bit of a hollow in the bottom of the pickup route in the guitar body in order to accommodate the pickup wire and allow the pickup to sit low enough in the body. So....will post back when I have actually managed to install them and get some sound out of em:) |
