Great review! Pretty much sums up the Vox AD~VT range.
I have the 50watt version and from the sounds of it I am just as happy with it as you are.

Yeah all the valvetronix have pretty much the same features but as you move up you get more obviously like I think on the 60 you have a seperate speaker out on the back and a few other little things but they are a great line.

Nice review Rok, (I liked the color scheme - very tasteful!). Also liked the technical deatail and interspersed opinions - a very balanced and informative review. If we had a few more like this I'd start to feel pretty confident about going out and buying an amp - at the moment I have no clue (apart from the Vox Adt30vt!)

Thanks Andrew....it means a lot.

Actually my boyfriend thought I was nuts as I've been writing this review for days. I had to research some of the technical stuff. Like I said I'm no tech geek and I must have played with those clean settings a hundred times just so I made sure I couldn't adjust them to a tone I liked. It just seemed like they were overreaching. But I truely believe Vox has a fantastic line of amps and one thing I forgot to mention is that all the effects and stuff are done by Korg.

cool review! i have one of these too. pretty cool amp. the only thing i dislike is the lack of super hi gain tones. BUT! Vox is soon to release the new VALVETRONIX XL series that will specially in hard rock / metal tones!

Awesome review rok! I'm going to buy the 100w version, I think it has upgraded celestion speakers, so that takes care of that. I was already convinced that thats the amp for me, but you just reinforced it. Thanks.

And Just as I was planning on Writing a review of the Ad15vt!
As you move up in the range of the valvetronix amps the speakers get upgraded in both size and quality, for example my amp, the 15w version has a single 8, while the 30w has a 10, and I believe it goes into 12's and dual 12's as you go higher into the series.

Beautiful sounding amp with all the low end you could want, yet still keeping the high end clear!
the 15w version I bought for 210$ canadian.
You simply cannot beat the Vox Valvetronix line up when it comes to bang for your buck!

@JVM....Actually I think the 100w version has 2x12 Vox original speakers. The 50w I believe is the only one with the celestion. However with the 100w you do get an external speaker out jack and seperate loop return and send jacks. I believe all the other features are the same.

So, apparently Vox has a new valvetronix line out with an "XL" suffix, supposed to be more high-gain. Has anyone tried it? You can get pretty heavy on the regular valvetronix anyway, can't you? Just curious, going to have to try them both out before I buy one now.

Hey JVM....you can get pretty heavy with the regular valvetronix line but I believe the new XL series is advertised as being heavier. I haven't tried so I can't really say. There is different amps modelled in the new series that are suppose to have higher gain and basically more metal minded. Would be best to try both though so you can see which better suits your needs.

I have that same amp....


Great for effects and stuff, but not very versatile to the modern age. I can handle the stuff upto 90's like blues, some old school punk and metal. The sad thing which i wanted out of this amp is high distortion for the new age punk and metal. Effects are just mind blowing, but i do regret why i didnt buy line 6 spideIII 75 watt.

Anyone who has this amp, can you please post the settings you use to get some good distortion sound...

Hey jammer91.....for distortion I usually use the Nu Metal amp preset (sounds the sharpest to me) and just crank everthing eles up on full with the exception of the middle which I usually set at around the 10- 12 o Clock postition. I sometimes use the Chorus+reverb effect aswell but not all the time. Master volume at the 9 O'clock position.(but I usually don't play a lot of heavy distortion) If your looking for a specific sound for a certain song say you kinda have to play around with it but I found this site about a month ago (it's where I found the setting for distortion) and it's pretty cool. I still found I had to tweek a bit as somethings didn't sound right to me but it gets ya started on the right path.

just picked one of these up the other week

amazing amp for the price
paid:250 CAD new

works great . when i want specific types of sound it works great running my vox da5 through this and with my line6 dr distorto pedal

Cool man....check out the link I posted there are some really good setting for songs and types of music on it. As said some still needed a bit of tweeking but they get ya started. I use my amp with my Whammy pedal and Zakk Wylde wah and just love it. Great amp for the money.

That's a cool site, there's some really dead on ones there. And some not so good ones, but a lot of that is just bad guitar playing and people that can't hear, too

I tried out the Ad100vt at a shop around here, it sounds awesome! I'm even more excited to get it now Plus it's pretty huge for a 2x12 One thing I couldn't figure out though, and I only played it for about 20 minutes or so, was how to turn the effects off. So the majority of the time I was sitting there being david gilmour with the delay turned on

There should be a bypass button just below the effects knob. Hit it once...it turns on the effects, hit again...it will go back to the to the original settings on the amp(wether manual or preset) . As I stated in my review this kind of gives you a third option when using the foot switch as you can program say a clean and distortion in the two channels and then set the amp up manually and run it in the bypass (button 2 on foot switch is the bypass) Hope this makes sense....kinda rushed...at work and boss just stepped out...he he
