GMC Forum _ Bands and Guitarists _ Remember That One Horrible Band?

Posted by: RIP Dime Oct 15 2008, 11:19 AM

The one with the embarrassing Youtube video(Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BgNhR9oisM God, so horrible), well the bassist from that mess is actually a great musician, and his project http://www.myspace.com/indricothere, sounds pretty awesome. This is one of those "pleasant surprise" kinda bands, I thought it would be horrible at first but...well, just listen to the songs on his Myspace. I think you'll agree it's pretty good. Just thought I'd share. smile.gif

Uhm... to my ears that was as horrible as the youtube clip. mellow.gif

The big difference was that while the worst band in the world were like playing different songs Indricothere has music somewhat resemling a song. Sorry laugh.gif I was listening to blues so all this came as a shock and ruined my day laugh.gif

Sounds right, this type of music is probably meant to do that to people who are mellow music fans and the like. laugh.gif

Maybe I should have included a disclaimer in the first post, *Extreme, underground metal, not for the faint of heart...or Motley Crue fans* laugh.gif wink.gif Definitely for the someone who's already an extreme metal fan, sorry, I should have made that more clear in the first post, I can see people thinking that he's actually a virtuoso jazz bassist or something and then they click the link then... ":o Ahhhh, what's this racket!! mad.gif" laugh.gif

I can see from your point of view, but I'm used to it, Atheist, Nile, and Meshuggah are bands that I listen to when I need to concentrate. laugh.gif For me, I see Indricothere as a breath of fresh air, with a dumb too long name. laugh.gif

You have to hear the song to its full potential. Seriously, how could someone judge a band when there playing complex stuff on crappy practice amps and no drummer. Behold... The Arctopus is a great band man.

The bassist drummer's name is Colin Marston by the way, and he also plays for Dysrhythmia.

I can!

And I already know that if I click those links I will hear something that sounds terrible imo. I'm so sure I'd bet you $$$ my judging was correct to start with. And you seem pretty sure someone can't so do you care to bet against me, i.e that my juding failed and that I like what I hear hence was wrong to pre-judge? Just name the amount, any amount. dry.gif

I believe there is a good idea for a progressive spastic ink type song. But playing is sloppy, I can hear the bass players is doing some interesting stuff, but the guitar playing is really sloppy.

Yea, Indricothere is Colin Marston's solo project, great music there IMO. And you're right, Behold... The Archtopus does sound much better with a drummer, still not something I would listen to at this time though, I prefer the more straightforward, heavy, and brutal Indrocothere, my only complaint is that the album isn't long enough. smile.gif

Though if it wasn't very pleasing to the ear, it was pretty interesting (Talking about the YouTube video).

This is what happenswhen people try to be way original.

Haha, I can totally picture it: "Hey man... Bluuuh... Let's make a new genre, duuuude!" "Yeah duuuuude..... Rock is sooo last week... Lemme' just detune my guitar and change the strings to where they doesen't belong... BoouuuĆøh.."

If there were any doubts after my above mocking of the music, I didn't like it at all tongue.gif

Man I love Behold The Arctopus. I have some rare releases they have done. Absolutely crazy stuff but they are better on record with a drummer. The bassist kicks arse.

And I would like some money.

took the words right out of my mouth. People should reference that youtube clip whenever they're stressing the point that speed doesn't = music. I'd rather hear a beginner guitarist play Smoke on the Water with an out of tune guitar. Its just hard to believe that someone could write something like that AND have the guts to play it in front of people.
