Hey guys! It's been a while since I started one of this traumatic thread where we have to choose only 1 band or musician....
this time... Best Blues Player Ever

Man, this is a tough question, since I like so many different players and also because each player sounds so different. For example, I like S.R.V. and I also like Gary Moore, but they both sound very different from each other. The same could be said about Freddie King and Eric Clapton, two more of my favorites. The only way of narrowing it down would be to ask who is the best all around player, and for that I tend to think S.R.V. but no doubt many would disagree.

I don't believe in the concept of "the best", but I do have my favorite, and that is SRV 
But thats just today, I always change my mind lol

he also sings well
just hear his tasty phrasing and note choice. He really navigates the changes perfectly. Just an outright great musician

Joe Bonamassa. Ive started listening to his stuff quite a lot recently and Ive really been blown away by how good he is.

Well, what a question!!!
As it's completely subjective not everyone will come up with the same answer, nor arrive at their answer the same way.
For me, I have to look at it from the point of view of a Historian and travel back to the beginnings. I won't call it the 'birth' of the Blues as the roots of the Blues can be quite easily traced to West Africa where the similarities, even today, are so obvious that they cannot be denied.
Listen to the likes of Ali Farka Toure, Tinawriwen or Amadou and Mariam and you'll hear what I mean.
So let's come forward to what we all know and appreciate as the 'Blues', there is only really one choice here, without whom modern Blues Music would not exist, wouldn't have developed the way it did, nor would it have spawned the mastery of Robben Ford, Joe Bonamassa, SRV, etc.

Well, I don't think there's the BEST blues guitar player. There is your FAVORITE one. Well, my favorite of all times I'd choose SRV. But nowadays it's Joe Bonamassa and Philip Sayce.

I definately have to get out and check out some more blues players. I've been getting into some of the blues lessons here on GMC and would like to push my style in that direction. Recommended listening anyone?...

Yeah Just watched some of this he is amazing. A mate of mine won a competition to jam with him Robin Ford about a year ago. Here's some footage.
Seen Joe play twice now and he just gets better. He my favorite for sure.

The problem with lists is that everybody has a favorite that's not on there. And you inevitably forget one of your own faves, for example - the great Rory Gallagher! I can't believe I didn't include him. Thanks for reminding me Bossie!

No probs... he really played extraordinary with heart and soul like SRV..and allthough he sold over 30millions albums he is often overlooked..gone too soon unfortunately
