Hey George!

You need to work on this one a bit more. It's a common issue that when things seems quite simple, we tend to loose some important details. Your palmm uting tone is just fine but You do not give open notes/chords enough time to ring out. You cut them for the sake of position shifts while the trick is....to let them rign out full rhythm value they were assigned to....and than make ultra fast position shift at the very last possible moment. If this doesn't happen, it sounds a little too "shreded" and I do not mean any kind of guitar shreding though...but a straight meaning of this word.

At 0:42 part you have several issues at once...fisrt you've lost liek one or two strikes (hand is picking but left hand is notfretting a note so it sounds emty) There a re some moments of unwnated strings cut through and a moments where muting vs pen notes is inconsistent (one time it overlays previous note, second time it's separated). Especially in such a simple lesson you should be twice as aware of details

Hi George!

It's very important to work on your rhythm skills so this lesson is a wise choice. As Darius said, this one is not bad at all but you need to dedicate some more time to polish timing and the overall sound of your palm muting.

I recommend you to isolate the different parts and pay attention to your hands movement and position in order to get the right tone, and tight timing. It won't take too much time, but I think that you'll need at least a few weeks to feel it natural.

I must say I appreciate your aggressive style in playing this!! It's got a very "WAR" vibe to it which I like. I can feel the aggression in your approach. It's not technically perfect, but the intent behind it is spot on. This type of riffing needs just a pinch of anger behind it to make it sound authentic IMHO and you have that. Keep that intensity up!! On to the review.
It goes get a pinch "Choppy" in spots where you are transitioning to the power chords from the open E chord. Many folks cheat this a bit by only playing the E string instead of the E power chord. It's not a full, but it does require less on the hand. However, this is just something folks do in the wild. For the purposes of these lessons, you've got to play them as written of course.

One song that comes to mind which might help is MASTER OF PUPPETS by Metallica. It requires the type of fast power chord changes to and from the Open E power chord that are the main thrust of this lesson. Here is a link to the tablature for Master of Puppets.

Here is what it sounds like It's an 8 Minute song so it's a ENDURANCE TEST to be sure. It's also a very cool tune to have in your bag of tricks for when you jam with other folks. It's very nearly a "Modern Standard". Something that many folks will know how to play if they are in to heavy music.

As Gabe says, break this down in to chunks and isolate each bit, then put it back together. Also, I'd say try to learn Master of puppets before trying this again as it will give you all the skill sets you need in order to play this and just about any other Metal rythm you come across!
As for this one, Solid 6 from me!

I agree this one feels a bit rushed - you need to spend more time nailing the details.

You do have a neat sound and you seem to be digging into the groove which always nice. However this is not enough to cover up for the many mistakes. So considering that your level of skills is more than enough to nail this piece, the best thing I can say here is: practice practice practice!

You get a 6 from me.
