GMC Forum _ Todd Simpson _ Quick Licks #93 - One Handed Shred Iii

Posted by: Todd Simpson Aug 17 2019, 10:56 PM

This is part III of our One Handed Shredding Series. This time we take our lick to the low strings. This is the same pattern as PART II from last time, just done on the low E and A string. These strings are thicker as they are wound. You may find it harder to do on the low strings that on the high strings. If you can't pull of this lick at all, it means that your left hand power needs some work. This is the PERFECT drill for anyone who needs more power from the left hand. I realize these drills can be daunting when one tries them and they sound nothing like the demo being played. But remember, the demo is how it will sound once you practice it. Not how it will sound the first time you try it. Dig in and give it a go! Show the lick who's Boss!!!

NICE!!! This one requires that you have enough power in your left hand to just not need the pick at all. At this point, picking becomes a "Tone Choice" not a matter of something required. CONGRATS!!! You are at that point. Some players NEVER, I repeat, NEVER make it to have enough hand power to be able to pull this lick off. You Sir, have no problem at all! it' TOIGHT!!!!!!

You just....

Nice! Even got some speed on the next take. Your pinky power is coming along quite well and your ability to play without a pick is coming along as well. The more power you get in your fret hand, the more picking becomes a tone choice. Also, you will find you can play a lick/scale and only pick one or two notes every 4 or 5. it makes for running a quick bit much easier. When muted, it sounds percusive like it's been picked even though it's not. You just..
