Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

The phrasing on this lesson is just awesome... I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but the phrases sort of "go past" where I was expecting them to end, especially the first time I heard this and as I was learning it. It just struck me as very cool. I think this lesson captured something really unique about Eric Claptons playing ... "cool blues" , or "rocking mellowness" might be a good way to describe it. Not sure really how to characterize it other than that. I think I nailed this one pretty good except for the first phrase is a little choppy. Got to continue working on picking. Maybe someday it will come around. Beleive it or not, no chorus on the opening chords here, I think my guitar was just slightly detuned from the rhythm guitar of the backing track.

Hey mate!

very good take!

My only suggestion would be to try and add a little overall "roundness" (as you said, some notes sound a little choppy). It's all about articulation here, so give yourself some time to shape the notes more carefully. I think it may be just a matter of taste regarding what I said, but otherwise I think you nailed it nicely! Well done!

PS: regarding the coolness - you are so right biggrin.gif

I agree with Cosmin's points. I'd also say if you relaxed into the song a bit more (after you've played it for a while and it's really bedded in) then I think that would help you get that more swingy, rounded feel to it smile.gif

Nice tone too cool.gif

You played this take in an excellent way, well done! smile.gif

One thing you definitely need to work on is vibrato. This will make you complete player. Definitely spend some time on it with metronome. Your tone, timing and muting are excellent.
