Look for some compression first in the signal chain, you can make screaming tones in podfarm just as anything else. I don't remember what the default podfarm pack came with but there must be at least ONE compressor stomp (blue comp and vetta comp?).
You rewired to put a ... what, in your bridge? Is it a paf joe (or fred?) or was it an evo? It should scream just fine if you boost that outgoing signal after the noisegate (if any) and before the OD (if any) and amp. What amp model are you using, what eq settings on it, are you using super-old strings? Anything else we should know? EDIT: ok, my memory of your pickup replacement is totally wrong it seems. What SD pickup did you put in your bridge? a duncan JB should be "juicy" enough for his tone. I have those here. I think the compressor will be the beginning of your solution. EDIT2: Actually, I kinda like your tone better than Joe's here. His was a little scoopy and fizzy to my (disclaimer: damaged) ears. Yours seems more balanced to me. What are you doing for reverb and delay? This post has been edited by jafomatic: Aug 23 2010, 09:09 PM -------------------- ::jafomatic

(Satch is not using modeling equipment but real amps) Enough with the rant, I don't think it's the setting so much it is the fingers that make your guitar scream! Cheap guitar+cheap amp+wah+Joe Satriani = Joe Satriani Sound Watching him play that was a confirmation that I need to keep working on my Vibrato!!! -------------------- My Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/user/FingerSpasm?feature=mhum
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes its the quiet voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow. |

Thanks guys Do you guys think my upload is youtube worhty? I've been busy with this song for long now and I'd love to put a cover on youtube This is the patch I used, never mind the weird letters Regarding the take, I'd want to tighten it up before displaying it on youtube for more than critique/feedback. There's still some discomfort in a few of those early phrases. Regarding the tone, I'd make a few recommendations here: - The screamer & JCM head are a good idea but the bass could be lowered 1 notch on the amp - The cabinet and condenser mic are probably not the right idea. See about a modern cabinet model and the 57 mic (on or off axis) - The chorus is not synched to tempo and will pass through zero at irregular times - The chorus is set very deep and may want to have its depth knob rolled back some to avoid detuning I assume Joe uses his own "satchurator" pedal for OD which might be better simulated by podfarm's "tube OD" model that's based on the old butler stomp. I'm not sure if you have that in your pack but take a look and give it a try if the cabinet change isn't enough. If you do that that change to the overdrive pedal, remember you're losing some of the mid color from the screamer so bump your mid knob up on the amp. The graphic EQ settings look okay to keep. I think the cabinet change alone will be a HUGE help so try that first and leave the screamer model right where it is. EDIT: ok, so I put on the album and listened to the tone there and made some changes to the preset you uploaded. This worked for my SA260 and my seymour duncan (JB, not the TB4 though). In order to save in podfarm 1.x I had to remove a compressor stomp from the FRONT of the signal chain. You can see it in the preset that is in podfarm2.x format, hollar if you want a sample recording. Attaching both: joe_satch_for_duncan_pickups_podfarm1x.l6t ( 2.11K ) Number of downloads: 366 joe_satch_for_duncan_pickups_podfarm2x.l6t ( 2.89K ) Number of downloads: 283 NOTE: I'm pretty sure you have the models I used in the podfarm1.x preset. You might not have the delay that I chose for podfarm2.x preset, it's ping-pong delay. This post has been edited by jafomatic: Aug 26 2010, 12:17 AM -------------------- ::jafomatic

Wonderful take! I actually love the tone! I'll let the tone masters do the talking.
