> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Lester!

This new take shows important improvements so you are doing a great job.

At first timing is much better on this one during the riff and also in the last triads. There is still some little room to make it sound tighter when you play some of the open string pull offs but this is much better, so just keep on playing this one at least twice every day focusing on this detail.

The last part sound good, but the triads could sound even smoother and there is a last octave that has a pitch issue. These small details but are the things you can work to do a flawless take.

Keep on the hard work!

Hi Lester, good to see you around again. I still remember when you won the beginner Xmas Challenge! cool.gif

I only have two comments to make, only minor as well:

- The awkward transition at 0:21 interrupts the flow you had built up

- This may be a question of taste but you use palm muting for the main riffs but Gabriel keeps it open so all the notes ring out. It's not a bad thing but try practising both ways just so you know for your own peace of mind that you're comfortable with playing it with and without palm muting.

Well done!

Same as Ben I would like to underline main difference in articulation you made. Of course it's not a math so at some point you can add changes if you like unless those changes makes lesson easier - removing harder stuff makes no sense because it's all about progress. In your case it was just a matter of taste. Final opinion should be on Gab's side since it's his lesson smile.gif

Riff part startting from 0:21 seems to be the biggest (not so big at all! smile.gif ) issue here. Look at Gab's right hand in the main lesson video. He just keeps his regular strumming-like picking direction so the right hand motion is smooth and constant - there are no moment when you have to switch the picking or anything close. You have to keep practicing how to assign picking direction to a moments when you need to stroke the strings without breaking that wanted, smooth hand motion. Aside from that it's visible improvement! congrats!
