Hi all!

Edit: I found some stuff called Dr. Ducks Ax Wax locally. here's a link....

http://www.ducksdeluxe.com/ddaxwax.html

Anyone Ever heard of this stuff or used it??

Original Post:

ok here's the scoop...

I need to wipe down my strings and neck... but I haven't any proper fluid for doing so. What kinds of every day around the house things can a person use to kill the grime and perspiration from the strings and fretboard without destroying or contaminating the neck and fingerboard?

I am not worried much about the body as I use a vinegar and water mix for that...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

thanks much!

G.

P.S. Yes I have ordered some proper cleaning and care supplies but it'll take 14 days for them to get here. need something in the interim.

Nifty!

I been playing around with the special effects that my soundcard can do....

I didn't realize that it has 12 Guitar effects including distortion and an auto wah, an overdriven auto wah. The flanger setting is nifty as is the grunge setting. The octaver is interesting, as is the auto tremolo... albeit the auto tremolo got a bit annoying after a while.

12 effects for the cost of the sound card... not to bad, plus I get great sound and DOlby Surround for movies...

They sure aren't Pro quality effects but for those of us on zero or almost zero budgets who already have this sound card it adds a new twist to practice sessions.

Just a note though... plug in directly to the line in... the audigy 2 ZS does NOT like headphone output from an amp. Let the PC and your speakers do the amplification if you give this a go.

all the best

G.

P.S. you'll probably need a mono to stereo adapter to convert your cable for 1/4 to the plug size used on the card.. 3.5 mm I believe

Heya All!

I was at a local shop the other day and saw some Danelectro FAB pedals on sale. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these.

the site for them with audio samples can be found at http://www.danelectro.com/fab1.htm

I am looking for some pedals on a tight budget and any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Thanks much!

Hi All!

My nick is Gaelan but most folks call me G for short. I pretty much honk at writing intros so I'l give some personal stats in point form,

Name - Roy
Age - 33
kids - 1... he is 10 yrs old
Occupation - Yard monkey at the local hardware store ( by training though I am a Pro Computer Nerd LOL)
Aspiration - to learn to play well enough to write & get these tunes out of my head. ( maybe the voices too!)
Gear - does it REALLY matter? It works for me...and works well... that's what counts I guess **grins**

My current and immediate learning goal is to find a comfortable position to practice in that doesn't contribute to my fret hand cramping up after 20 minutes. I haven't held a guitar since I was 15 years old, never really found a good practice/playing position for myself then so it's all from square one now **chuckles**

well, that's my 6 am ranting intro from North Eastern Alberta Canada. Looking forward to chatting, learning and sharing!

All the best!

G.
