This might have been discussed before, but I am looking at the "you rock guitar" coming out soon.
It is designed for gaming, but the guitar does have midi ability and after viewing a demo, this might be an effective cheap alternative to track some midi with your guitar:

http://www.yourockguitar.com/category/usb_midi_controller/

Check out this demo for midi:

(sorry, embed was dissabled!!!)

hey dave, thanks for posting that!..it,s just what i.ve been looking for to trigger my midi programs in sonar 8, if it works as well as they show it to be it would be an awesome tool for recording purposes, i could finally get rid of my roland gk3 pick-up which tracks horribly for midi in my sonar 8, it works great for the vg-99 but that,s it!!!...i suspect this could be a huge seller?????

I got one of this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbQjy20zDvg
got it used for $115 on 2007 and have been keeping it for my nephew until he's 6 years old or soething. It has midi capabilities and it is featured in some forums like a cheap alternative for Roland Device. Plays great the only problem is that damping is made bus umpresing buttons on the left hand, or pressing a plate on the "saddles" with the right hand.

I've been watching those on Ebay topo..
They go for a lot though.. I mean, still cheaper than a midi equipped guitar!
Seems like a very good alternative though!

By the way, how does the EZAG deal with velocity? Does it recognize velocity?

An awesome topic! I have always had the idea in the back of my mind to equip a guitar one day with midi capability but could never bring myself to mount some monstrosity of hardware on the body. Now we got some options!!! Right on!

I think it is completely plain, or may be 3 points of sensibiliy, open strings obvoiously has a slighter more velocity. But it is a better idea to check manual, forums and versions for those guitar as mine has been in the closet. I play it during a visit to Philly in 2007 and I didn´t play it since then.

i think a regular guitar with an midi pickup would probably serve you better, i mean unless you yourself try that one for real and say its as awsome as they say, cause i feel sure that some things will be missing and it wont be that good, or at least not as good as the keyboard counter parts.
for example what about palm muting? harmonics? it will never be a perfoming intruments like the big guitars with special gear, its just an midi controller for me.
if it doesnt have palm muting or other strings making noise while on is played like we nned to be concious about when playing real guitar it eliminates the learning aspect they mentioned

Yeah, I agree.
But the main useage for me would be to track midi fast and double some faster leads with some synths...
I wish I could try one!
