GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Next Gmc Collab!

Hey guys/girls,

We have done some really cool collabs recently, but what do you think we should cover next?

I have given some examples and created a poll to try and understand what would be a popular topic.

Let us know what you think!

Basic changes? What do you mean by that? Basic pop/rock as Jazz is covered in another selection?

And I've only done 2 collabs, so it doesn't much matter to me. I voted a new style but am really up for anything except maybe slow blues.

having been to bust lately to join a collab and not knowing if I could find the time for this on.What would help me are some simple key changes , forcing me to play in some different keys(other then simple major/minor or pentatonic/blues

"The clean collab" "no gain no pain collab"

Just a couple suggestions but based on jazzy or cut throaght country. I want some twang, a twang-aling-ading-dong kinda feel.

I'd be into something 'different'. Like Jazz or fusion with some jazzy chord changes. Maybe some twangy country would be fun too. biggrin.gif

I'm up for anything wink.gif Whatever you guys think works for me!! I missed the last one but now that I"m finally released from physical therapy and such, I"m ready!

If I like the backing and inspires me it doesn't matter which style is it. But if I must choose a style I am thinking at something fast blues or smooth jazz smile.gif

I was thinking about either a backing with a modulation (so you have to switch scales for it to sound ok).

A simpler alternative, would be just a simple chord progression without modulation - but where the goal is to follow the chords (for example the way Marty Friedman does it). With this alternative it will still sound good if you stay in one scale.

We could have a jazz sounding backing track, but which does not modulate. This could be a super simple introduction to jazz type licks (but without having to worry too much about the changes).

I'm a sucker for a slow track, whether a metal/rock ballad style track or just a slow ballad without rock/metal in it, but my vote has gone for metal but not too fast.

The Lil Wayne Collab!!!

You can only use two notes, you MUST pick with your thumb and you won't make the final mix unless you use a TON of phaser!

Seriously though, I'm game for anything. cool.gif

How about something along the lines of The Sex Pistols? or some acoustic blues like Mr Robert Johnson. Not that I'll be to good at either but I can't see them being as hard as that funk collab rolleyes.gif Then again i may be wrong laugh.gif

I have had a lot of fun over this backing track:

It's is obviously not metal but it is slow - works in one key (C minor) but it is also awesome to follow the only two chords happening (Cm and Fm).

Of course the backing is done by our own Javier and it sounds amazing, which helps wink.gif

How about a blues backing and the solo has to be bottle neck.I've never tried but it might be interesting smile.gif

hehe that's a cool idea, but I am not sure we'll get many participants (a lot of people might not have bottle necks). I could be wrong though?!

bottle neck, jam jar, pencil, spoon handle, marker pen, should provide some variety laugh.gif

Well it sure sounds like a lot of fun! What do others think? That kind of handicap will force us all to work with our melodic senses and nothing else.

I have a few slides I've never used. That would an interesting challenge.

Edit : Although, a heavy but not too fast metal track seems to have the vote. We could always do the backing you posted this time and a slide collab next.......

How about a reggae collab. Now that would be different. Can't say I've heard many reggae solos but who cares biggrin.gif
