These are all great Kris,

Listening for chord changes is a good one for me as I can never detect them, well not while I'm improvising anyway, my brain focuses on the drum rhythm rolleyes.gif

Thanks for the great work Kris, this has added a new dimension to GMC cool.gif

Yes I have never felt very strong at that either! I think the 12 Bar blues skillz game would have been very helpful for me when starting out.

I am still working on the listings page here:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/all_skillz_tester/

I will be adding more games and fix the descriptions asap!

I am thinking it could be cool with more harmony stuff (maybe related to modes)

Intervals would be good maybe, also, next level 12 bar could have drums to add an extra distraction. Then maybe go on to something not as predictable as a 12 bar wink.gif

Cheers

Good ideas! It’s all about finding a lesson that presents it neatly. I will see what i can find!

Kris, you added awesome lessons!!! smile.gif

BTW, try something. Play the game but turn off the sound from the lessons. Just use your eyes to identify the techniques, chord shapes and those other details. It's really cool and also a different kind of training. wink.gif Apparently even in this way I still can get the maximum scoring. biggrin.gif

hehe yes, many of them work well even with sound off. And if you can't get it right from scratch, I think this can help you learn to use your eyes as well for some techniques (and definitely for chords!)

Judging from how you are killing it, we should probably find a lesson that's even more difficult than the ones we have so far..! 😱

I am also thinking about possibly showing the total top scores of all played games on the new listing page (it would only show your personal total score - so only you would see it).

A little update -

The game now remembers your top score and displays it!

Also Monica suggested multi level games - and I think this idea has a lot of potential.

Basically you would only be allowed to proceed to level 2 when you have got a passing score on the first lesson / level!

This way we can design different challenges for chords, ear training etc

Exciting stuff! 😁

Here is first version of the the multi-level game. I call it a "challenge" and this one is aimed at recognising chords:

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/all_skill...hallenge=chords

Bear in mind that it's all very raw - and both the lesson content and solution needs more work.

But I am posting here to give you a chance to try it out and possibly shape the solution before it's finished.

Big thanks to Monica for helping me out with lesson scanning and time stamping!

The link takes me to a page with six lessons on, I can only play the first and one I've completed, even with a passing score I can go no further, it repeats the same game video without the buttons. This is using Chrome on android smile.gif

Ok thanks a million for the feedback! ❤️

I have tested on android, iphone & desktop - and it's working for me.

I have also tried to improve usability by automatically redirecting if you get passing grade. I have also started working on a scoreboard and other small tweaks. I have also tried to squash as many bugs as possible:

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/all_skill...hallenge=chords

If you have tried a previous version of the game you might need to open a new incognito window.

P.S. Instructional content needs much more work once the solution is working the way want it to 😎

Getting better all the time buddy, I missed an E shape in the second game but it stayed on screen until the end.

Awesome you like it Alex! I have lots of ideas to improve this and add new challenges. Just need more time! ( and less covid, the whole family has just caught it 🤒 )

That's funny neither can I now. Basically I missed the open E shape in the second game and it just sat there and the subsequent ones acted how they're supposed to. Must have been a temporary glitch.

I hope you and yours get better real quick buddy, fingers crossed.

Thanks for the well wishes - my covid was pretty bad with fever for 24h, now its bearable.

@Phil - I have introduced a change that hopefully fixed the issue you reported (though it's a little hard reproduce consistently).

The Chord challenge is now close to finished, with working scoreboard etc:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/all_skill...hallenge=chords

Let me know what you think? Does the lesson order make sense? Too many, too few? What other challenges would you like to see?

I think I like this, but I am a little unsure about the first lesson since it takes 40 seconds for the first chord to appear - and that might turn some people off who don't know how the game works yet.

I am pretty excited about the prospect of doing an ear training challenge using this game. I think it will add a type of practicing which we have never really had.

Again big thanks to Monica for helping me out with lessons and quality checks!

I clicked off part way through and started the happy bday lesson and my score reset when I cam back in. That would be my bad. I like the game though! ear training on a game!

I hope you get better asap! This covid thing is no joke.
