The three albums are very good and very different between them. I started to like Blind Guardian with Imaginations, that is a bit more "progressive" for me ("Bright Eyes" is one of my favourite BG's songs) , and then I checked Somewhere that sounds more power. Now I can say that my favourite BG album is "Nightfall in Middle-Earth" because of the amazing production ansd compositions.

IFTOS or NIME. NIME was my first BG album, and it has some truly stellar songs on it. IFTOS is more raw in terms of music and production, but still quite excellent.

Somewhere Far Beyond is a good album, but it's terribly quiet... Really, I used to not like the album that much, but now adays I really like the entire thing. Theater of Pain, particularly, is an awesome piece.

In truth, I can't pick a favorite BG album... I really do love them all : D I would actually recommend that you pick up all eight of them (and The Forgotten Tales, an album chocked full of awesome B-Sides).

Ngihtfall in the MiddleEarth is one of the best conceptual album ever. Its something like the Wall, Scenes from a Memmory, Operation Mindcrime etc... I seriously recommend you listening to it.

Well I would go for Imaginations for the first album, but to tell the truth, the only good choice is - all of them;)

As all will say, any Blind Guardian is a good choice, they have yet to fail at making an amazing album. I would pick Somewhere Far Beyond, because to me, it was the bridge from there old sound, to there modern sound. Combining the speed of the first albums with the "majesticness" of later works....Plus, The Bards Song - In The Forest......

What else is there to be said? Its pretty much one of the best songs written smile.gif

You are asking me? Ok, buy all of them tongue.gif But seriously, I don't really know what to say, obviously I love all three albums ;-) Go to your local record store and check them out yourself, like that you can get an idea about the albums. Or, if you are not familiar with BG at all, you could also check out "Live" or our "Imaginations through the looking Glass" DVD, like that you get a bit of everything. If I would have to get one of your 3 candidates I would get somewhere far beyond, but ask me the same question tomorrow and you might get a different answer, it all depends on my mood wink.gif

I agree with the others. I got most of BG's albums for christmas including these three. In my opinion buy these three and the others, especially a night at the opera. There is nothing more epic than "And Then there Was Silence".
