The pickup is called a 'Charlie Christian' pkup. CC for short.
They were stock in a Gibson 150-ES in the late 30s and 40s. The great jazz guitarist Charlie Christian famously played an ES-150, hence ...
Not a too uncommon mod in a Tele.
