BBC4 are currently repeating a very good documentary 'Do it yourself. A history of Rough Trade' most evenings. It's a history of the Rough Trade indie record shop and label from the late 70s to today and its massive influence on new wave and indie music. Maybe not overstating it to say that without RT music in the UK would be very different.
There's also a second programme that is music video of RT bands performing at the BEEB. This concentrates more on the early/mid 80s since the dear old BEEB were too slow to pay attention to new wave back in the late 70s . So for this one don't expect archive footage of The Fall, Subway Sect, Monochrome Set, Cabaret Voltaire etc. You do get some good stuff though like Robert Wyatt and Ivor Cutler. The RT shops and Probe Records were/are two of the best record shops in the UK. Spent far too long and far too much money in them . -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer.
