Woho, we're on!

Well, my name is Alex, I'm 19 years old and hail from Norway. I've been playing electric guitar for almost two years now, and acoustic guitar without any guidance two years before that.. So I re-learned everything when I picked up the electric. I started playing in the first place because I saw a clip of this guy on youtube, playing Zelda songs on guitar.. And I was all "WHOA! He's the man!! I'm getting a guitar!!"
Of course, looking back on that clip these days make me see how sloppy he was playing... tongue.gif

Some of my favourite guitarists are Luca Turilli(!!), Jani Liimatainen, Elias Viljanen, Gary Moore, Esa Holopainen, Mikael Åkerfeldt and Gus G.

Likewise with bands: Amorphis, Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody of Fire, Windir, Equilibrium, Amon Amarth, Kamelot, Opeth, Freedom Call, Korpiklaani, Terasbetoni, Ulver, Eluveitie, Rob Zombie, Elis, Nightingale, Agalloch, Children of Bodom, Tersivel (I'm not just saying that!), The Sins of Thy Beloved, Tenacious D, Blind Guardian, Elvenking, Graveworm..... The list goes on and on tongue.gif

My favourite styles is definetly Power Metal, Symphonic Metal, Folk Metal, and also Melodic Black/Doom Metal. I'm a sucker for great melodies together with epic, unusual instruments like The Sins of Thy Beloved use.
I have a weak spot for industrial metal as well ^^

In this MTP I'm mainly looking for ways to improve my rhythm and lead/technique skills, as well as read between the lines to learn how songs are build up and grasp the concept of song composition.

The last four lessons I've been working on:

well!!! here we are! thanks again for signing up Canis!

after read your CV a few times, I decided to focus phase 1 of your MTP on power metal. (hope you agree on this)

we´ll work on 2 things at the same time.

on one hand, we´ll be working on power metal rhythm with a clear goal: to get a solid rhythmic right hand.
on the other hand, we work your lead skills.
all this with small but intensive etudes.

first assignment:

Time to complete: 5 days
Level: Intermediate

part 1 (both: Lead & Ryththm)
-control of rhythm guitar at different tempos.
learn this first assignment start at 100 bpm
increase to 120 bpm
increase to 140 bpm
increase to 160 bpm

part 2 (both)
-routine

start at 120 bpm (6 times)
at 140 (8 times)
at 160 (8 times)

rest and relax for a while, and then come back to the routine. repeat this for 3 times.
on the lead one I also suggest you to apply a soft massage over your fingers and some stretching. in the space among the routines.

REMEMBER: practice and rec your takes using metronome.

have fun practicing!

Awesome! Powermetal!! I'll get started on this right away!

I just started my new job with absurde workhours though, so I hope I get this down in time ohmy.gif

Also: I've been playing around with VST's a while now, so I'm able to make a backingtrack to go with this ^^

Edit: Played around a little before hitting the bed, and this is a little backing I made as a draft for the rhythm part, which I could work into the final recording of it wink.gif

I'm so sorry, but is it OK if this one is a few days late? I've been working nights the whole weekend including sunday, and I'm just beat at the moment..
