Went and played one, but it broke my heart. The neck was overly lacquered and kind of had a les paul profile, making it play slow for me. Plus, where the flames alternate on the neck where they switch from a light shiny pearl to the darker shiny pearl, you can feel the joint on them with bends. Plus, you get lost VERY easy on the flames, it'd take a lot of getting used to. The neck pickup is horribly muddy, it's some sort of PAF wanna be but comes no where close to the DMzo PAF Pro or the SD '59. The nut on this was a very cheap plastic one that the string easily fell out of (was screwing with the tag to get it out of the way so I could play and EGB strings popped out of the nut.
So, being thoroughly disappointed with it, I shelved it and played an ESP Eclipse II for a while, enjoying them as always. Did a side by side comparisson of the EC-1000 and the Eclipse, and must say that while they have the same hardware pretty much (same pickups and wood, anyway), the Eclipse played and sounded MUCH better, plus the 24 frets is kind of worthless on a 16th fret set neck.
Didn't really want to drop 1400 on a guitar, but then I noticed that hangin on the wall they had an ESP Ltd DV8-R, the Dave Mustaine signature guitar in the LTD package. This guitar is brutal. I'm still doing a bit of research on it as I don't know what the specs are exactly, but Dave jumped ship to Dean about a year after he signed on with ESP, so this bad boy is sure to be rare. It's got Seymour Duncans on it, although it's got a custom case on it baring Dave's signature, so I'm not sure what they are yet unfortunately. It was nice because the guitar was on the wall so high up that only someone my size could reach it (I'm 6'-6" but closer to 6-8 w/ my boots on) so it was in incredible condition. I'll put a review up later when I can find my digi camera. It screams. The SD's it comes with are the Dave Mustaine Live Wires. They scream very easily and respond well to harmonics.
