There are many guitarists who inspired me, but the guitarists that just blew me away were John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jason Becker, Brian May, Jimmy Page, Paul Gilbert, Randy Rhoads, Steve Vai, SRV, Kirk Hammet, Joe Satriani, Marty Friedman, Alex Lifeson, and Ritchie Blackmore.

I know there are others that have also but it will take way too long to list all of them.

My inspiration comes from 2 guitarrists:Emppu from Nightwish and Kirk Hammett from Metallica. Of course there are many inspirations since I try to come up with various things from different styles but, overall, these are the main figures smile.gif

Metallica was the band that inspired me to play guitar.I just became a huge fan and once i started playing guitar i had to learn all there songs. That time used to be really fun ,now i just practice lead and technique. They played a huge role in me wanting to play guitar

For a few months now i am listening to Manticora and their stuff really drives me crazy because of it's awesomeness! Awesome solos, awesome riffing, great musicianship and compositions - it's really a high-quality band. Unfortunately pretty unknown.

That would be the band which gives me inspiration for the metal riffing lessons i already did and am planning to do smile.gif

Manticora are brilliant, there arrangements are just, unparalleled.

+1 to Empuu, his solo on Dead Boys Poem is beautiful, hell any of his solos or riffs are beautiful.

And then again when I watched the Tokyo G3,....and then again with Dream Theater Budokan DVD......so many!
but personally....the guitarists I respect the most are Rob Ramos and Jake Kiley of Strung Out biggrin.gif

Mine is kind of weird.
When I was 14, I saw this movie "Eddie and the Cruisers 2"
I watched that movie about 50 times total. It totally inspired me to play.
I'd be curiosu to know if anyone else saw it. It's an old late 80s movie...

My 2 first inspirations back in 1992 were David Gilmour and Slash, but know I have to say with total honesty that my inspiration to play better every das is MURIS VARAJIC.

Jack White of the White Stripes really made me love Rock music again. He is a great guitarist especially when he does old Blues songs like Death Letter. Really powerful, he reminds me of Jimmy Page.

John petrucci by miles. I could name about 20 more.
Anyway the main reason why I got back to play guitar is because INTERNET (tabs, forums, stream videos, information) and the new SOFTWARE (GP5) . To me, these two have made the path so much easier and enjoyable. If I am not wrong it's got to be many many more like me going through the same experience as me out there.
